This Saturday morning! Come hang out while spins a curated, all vinyl set inspired by Rascuache. 10a-1p 5/2
In finding inspiration for curating the set, Alejandro asked us about the soul of MSN and what makes us tick. The word “rascuache” and similar sensibilities kept coming up. It’s a word whose meaning describes what we do, not always by choice (often out of necessity) but still with pride. In Alejandro’s words:
Rascuache is heritage with edge— warm, bold, neighborhood-driven, and slightly rough in the right way. [The set will] draw from the venue’s spirit of honoring culture through everyday materials, local memory, and lived experience, while also carrying a subtle DIY energy tied to the rascuache and border-punk sensibility. It will be rooted in Tejano memory, border consciousness, romance, grit, and the beautiful resourcefulness at the heart of the rascuache spirit.
