What can a single farmers’ market do to create a more just food system in Texas? 🍏

By accepting food benefits like SNAP and WIC, farmers’ markets INCREASE community access to local food. WIN-WIN: a more inclusive customer base means more revenue opportunities for local farmers! 💸

Any market can start accepting SNAP with resources from Texas Center for Local Food .

Once a market accepts SNAP, they can join Double Up Food Bucks Texas (Double Up Texas), a statewide SFC program that DOUBLES shoppers’ SNAP benefits for MORE fresh fruits and veggies.

🌟SFC’s Farm to Plate: VENUE CHANGE 🌟When it comes to our biggest event of the year, nothing can rain on our parade, including rain!

Due to possible rain in the forecast this Thursday, we are proactively moving our venue for this year’s Farm to Plate to (204 E 4th St., Austin, TX). The evening’s courses, drink pairings, and program will proceed as planned at .

Parking is limited downtown, but available at several nearby garages at various hourly rates. Garages include:

Littlefield Garage: 508 Brazos St.
Premier Parking Garage: 112 East 5th St.
AirGarage (Surface Lot): 400 Congress Ave.
Frost Bank Tower Garage: 401 Congress Ave.
301 Congress Garage: 301 Congress Ave.

Please plan to arrive early to give yourself plenty of time to park. Slide 2 includes a map of Brazos Hall’s location and nearby parking options.

We want our community to be comfortable and dry during this elevated dining experience and we apologize for any inconvenience this venue change may cause. March is Women’s History Month, and all month long we are celebrating our female-founded, female-run organization as well as all of the amazing woman-owned businesses and women in agriculture who are a part of our market community. Texas Farmers’ Market at Lakeline was founded by Carla Jenkins in March of 2010, and the Mueller market followed two years later. We have been fortunate to have many incredible women on the TFM team over the years and are proud to be a female-run organization.

🍅Everyone should have the opportunity to shop at farmers markets!

🫶🏽Please share with someone who would benefit from knowing they can shop at these farmers markets for fresh meats and produce using their Lone Star Card.

🥬SNAP is a great program that not all farmers markets can offer. I hope that one day all markets will be able to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the future.
