Weekend update from our farm. What a long week of taking care of weeds, building beds, transplanting strawberries and volunteer flowers and dill, planting our hoop house and moving chicks around for the new arrivals!!
So thankful for the Sabbath rest today!

We celebrated Messiah’s ascension into heaven today, as we near Pentacost. It feels timely that it rained last night and today!
So thankful for the rain on our land and in our hearts!

Hoop house desert… with a drought, plus the hoop house being under cover and therefore NO extra moisture, this ground is dry!! You may remember last year our walkways were easily 16 inches deep. In late summer, We then added wood chips to bring them almost level and the chickens lived in the hoop house this winter, adding their nitrogen rich ness to decomposing chips. So, these walkways are still about a 8-10 inches deep in decomposing wood chips. The water is of course dropping into that and also seeping out into the beds. It’s going to take several days to fully restore moisture to the soil at this rate!!

Helene devastated our creek bank, and grape arbor. Maybe this fall we will repair the arbor. But… look what survived the flood! So much amazing peppermint! And yellow flag.
