I wondered if investment in the Proven Winner line of petunias etc: , would be worth it from the perspective of the grower, and also of our customers.

Yes! They do cost more. (both for us and for you.)

Yes! Having flowers to enjoy all summer is an investment of time and resources. (but look at the joy they bring.) ❤️

Yes! It is very possible to have beautiful flowers in late August

Yes! They have passed the test of being rain tolerant

Yes! These girls were plummeted by Hail this week! It took about four days to really recover. I think that’s fantastic.

There have been a few times when I know we were going to get rain for days on end, and I tucked them undercover, but I have left them out for all other normal rain occasions.

What’s the secret?

1. Making sure they have water early in the morning so they can thrive in the hot afternoon afternoons. (happy to chat with you about watering.)

2. Weekly liquid feed. (they have high nutrient demands.). Talk to us about our preferred liquid fertilizer.

3. Ever heard of giving your hanging baskets, a slight trim in early to mid July? (we’d love to chat with you about that.)

It is possible to have beautiful hanging baskets at the end of August! Some of these pictures are from a customer and also some hanging baskets that we have down by the Farm stand.

We invest so much effort into hanging baskets before they’re sold and it’s so exciting to see them still thriving at the end of August by simple consistent care.

This customer used “beat your neighbor fertilizer” sold  at the Farm stand! It is by far the nicest liquid feed fertilizer I have ever used. It only takes one feeding a week, and maybe two x week after a heavy rain, and cost about $.10 a gallon, once made up!

Let us know what your favorite colors are, as we are right in the process of ordering all of our flowers for next year!
