365 days ago tomorrow, I got the worst call of my life. My father wasn’t just involved in this business; his fingerprints are on every part of this little shop, from the values we stand on, paint on the walls, floor that we walk on, to the relationships we’ve built with our customers and community. He worked endlessly, sacrificed quietly, and carried so much on his shoulders without ever asking for recognition. He believed in this business, but more importantly, he believed in me. That belief is what has carried me through the darkest days of this past year. Even when I felt completely broken, I knew I had to keep going because he spent so much time and effort helping build this dream beside me. To everyone who has supported our family and my business over this last year, thank you. Your kindness, patience, prayers, and support have meant more than you could ever know. There were days when I truly didn’t know how I was going to make it through, and the encouragement from this community helped carry me forward. This business will always carry a piece of my father in it. Every success, every challenge, every person we serve —I would give anything to see him walk through that kitchen door once more.
My father worked in granite for over 40 years, and to honor him, I have worked with Buttura & Gherardi Granite Artisans in designing a personal memory piece with an etching of my favorite picture of him and I together so he can always be there with us at the shop.
EVERY single dollar that we make this week at the shop and takeout will go towards this beautiful granite piece I have designed. (This is a mock-up picture of what it will look like) I can’t wait to have a piece of my dad always at the shop with me and hope that you all know how much it means to me to have you all be a part of making this memorial piece a reality.
