This Thursday is an extra special day as we celebrate the Bay Area Farmers Market | Community in Connection Day!

Alongside an incredible lineup of our local farmers and vendors that bring fresh produce, tender meats, eggs, florals, honey, syrup, baked goods, wellness offerings, home décor, handmade goods + more....we’re welcoming community organizations to connect you with valuable local programs and resources!

Come stock up for your week + maybe plan to stay a few extra minutes to chat with some of the incredible organizations serving initiatives right in our backyard. Check out what's new with the Bay County Library System, enter the raffle with the Saginaw Bay Community Sailing Association, chat with your local Bay City Cooperative Market + meet other community orgs all in one convenient place this week.

Did we mention our 'Farm to Fork' Food Safety Program launches too? Be sure to stop by the Info Booth to learn practical tips for safely shopping, handling, and storing fresh produce and other foods at home. Did you know this week is National Farmers Market Week? 🌻

For those of us at the Pere Marquette Parking Plaza on Thursdays in Downtown Bay City, that means something a littleeeee extra special.

When you choose to shop with us, you know you're taking home the freshest produce, locally raised meats, farm-fresh eggs, baked goods, handcrafted products, and artisan offerings around.

But this week, in honor of one of our most favorite holidays, we'd love to take a moment to explain what your support really means…

Because every dollar spent towards purchasing a home grown tomato, loaf of warm bread, freshly assembled bouquet of flowers, pound of farm-fresh hamburger, jar of infused honey, sweet cup of tea, perfectly sweetened cookie, freshly made ready-to-eat bite has quite the story to tell and creates an incredible ripple effect that reaches far beyond what you might realize.

Our featured EAT OF THE WEEK is ALL THE BBQ provided by Fat Matt's BBQ! Melt-in-your mouth beef brisket, pulled pork, savory chicken wings, macaroni + cheese, smoked potatoes and more!

Plus other ready-to-enjoy options, like the suped-up snow cones from Snow & Joe, minimal ingredient popsicles from King of Pops - Bay City, freshly-made brews from local favorite Legacy Coffee House and of course everyone's most memorable Mid-Michigan soft pretzel experience with Pretzel Prize.

Live music this week will be with Gabe Couch, the one-man band stand! Did you hear his 'Monster Mash-Up' at Harvestfest 2025? He's a local legend and definitely a crowd favorite among our crew here.

After closely monitoring the air quality warnings, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's market.

Supporting our local farmers, makers, food producers, and small businesses is at the heart of every single thing we do... so whenever possible, we prefer to leave participation up to our vendors and almost always avoid canceling in advance. However, current projections indicate that air quality during market hours is expected to reach levels considered unhealthy for everyone and we have to do what's right.

With the health and safety of our vendors, volunteers, performers, and guests in mind and recognizing that many of our vendors spend the evening before market harvesting, baking, preparing products, and loading for the next day, we believe making this decision now is the most responsible course of action.

We know this is disappointing and we're just as disappointed not to spend Thursday afternoon with you. But we are so thankful for your understanding and continued support!

Wishing everyone a great rest of your week -- please take care of yourselves, stay indoors if possible, and continue to monitor local air quality updates! 🙌

We just wanted to say THANK YOU.

To our vendors, volunteers, community partners, sponsors, friends and guests who came out to beat the heat with us at the market last week.... we are SO grateful for you!

For what we're building together as a community.
For all of your love and support.
We could not be more thankful to be your farmers market.

We'd love to see you again this Thursday as we celebrate Community Connections Day at the Bay Area Farmer's Market! where we welcome key local non-profits and organizations to provide resources and opportunities for our neighbors + friends.

Stay tuned for more information, regarding our special events, kids activities and LIVE MUSIC!

And as always, our incredible seasonal vendors will be there providing fresh produce, farm-raised meats, eggs, baked goods, wellness offerings, self-care items, hand-crafted goods, honeys, syrups, and so much more.
