BAMA WAGYU 100% pure ground beef, 25/75 mix all from the same steer. (25% fat/75% lean)
This steer was born right here, weaned here, started on 1 # of feed a day plus grass. We increase feed to two pounds and when he is a year old he goes into the steer pen. Feed rate goes to 4% of his body weight and dry hay. For the next 400 days he is give increase feed, shade and cool sand to lay. He is given clean water and hand fed, with free choice hay.
From the time he was conceived to harvest date is over 3 years. Harvested in a USDA inspected facility and offered for sale right here on the farm.
Price of our Ground Beef is $8 #.

Corn prices hit $5.15 1/2 today. Good for row crop farmers but not for Cattlemen. All the talk about cattle being high and the main ingredient of our feed jumps up. We just filled our bins and are good for a few months, but we will have to look at closer in the mean time.
One more road block for herd exspansion.

The Government and the media have to have a flash point subject to deflect from all the other problems in this Country. Screaming there is a cattle shortage and prices are too high. These cattlemen are making too much money. Live cattle prices are falling while meat processor box beef prices are rising. Cattle herds take years to grow, it is a long term commitment and less and less young people are willing to make that commitment. There is not a shortage of cattle, there is a shortage of Cattlemen.

It is hot but with good help she still set 106 post, only a couple hundred more and she will be ready to string wire.
