We want to wish everyone a fun, safe Labor Day weekend!! Hope the weather shapes up!!

We received a fresh delivery of mums and honey this morning. Donuts are hot off the fryer! All of our goodies are ready for you!

Just a reminder there will be no U-pick this year due to lack of apples in that area. Our mid and late varieties are much better but not accessible to the public. We will get thru this next week and hopefully will be able to start picking again. Please be patient.
We still have Ginger Gold and Ruby Mac left for now. We still have 15 varieties to pick! Always call for availability.

Well, well, well…… hot enough for everyone??!!

Just a quick update on our apple situation. So, we had numerous frosts while we were in full bloom, and our early varieties took a real bad hit. Hopefully we will have two varieties left of early apples for this weekend. Our mid and late season apples did much better, still not great, but will get us by. The orchard goes uphill all the way back. So the trees in the lower orchard, the early varieties and a few mid season varieties were pretty much a complete loss. That’s also why there is no U-pick this year. There is simply nothing in that area. We may have a little lull in between early and mid varieties. We won’t pick if they’re not ready. The next varieties in the line up will be McIntosh, Cortland and Honeycrisp, followed by Empire, Snow Sweet, Jonathan and Macoun. Not particularly in that order. Always call for availability.

Our mums are here and we will get fresh mums pretty much every week until my supplier runs out. I would love to do them myself, but my husband asked me, when are you gonna find time to do that too? heehee! Squash and pumpkins are usually later in September. We have all of our other items in our store including many that are locally made, and some that are not completely local but made in Wisconsin! I would guess that 90% of our products are from Wisconsin. Wisconsin Proud!!!

Hmmm, I can’t think of anything else important off the top of my head. I think the heat is getting to me!!

Well, the day has finally come!!! We are now open for business!! Can’t wait to see you!

So, we had a change in plans on the Zestar apples. We wanted to pick them last Thursday only to find out they are not coloring like they should. They are solid green! The new growth on the trees is so thick they are not getting the sun they need to color up. Therefore, we ended up pruning the trees instead of picking apples. This process will let more sunlight in. I will know more next Tuesday if they’re going to be colored enough to pick. 

We currently have Paula Red, Ginger Gold, Gala and Ruby Mac.

Everything else is as usual!!

Happy Friday!! Next Friday will be much happier!!! Opening day, ready or not!! And the weather is suppose to be fantastic!! First delivery of donut mix is here!

Apple varieties will be Paula Red, Ginger Gold, Zestar, Blondee and Ruby Mac. Due to numerous frosts during bloom, our early varieties took the hardest hit, so there will be a limited quantity. That being said, there will be no u-pick this year as the trees behind the building have nothing on them. BUT, there are always donuts!!!!! The later varieties faired much better. Still not what we are used too, but much better than the early varieties.

Everything else should be as usual. All of our baked goodies and caramel apples, pies, breads and all of that nummy stuff. Local honey, mums, jams, jellies etc. Business as usual!

So…. We have decided on an opening date!! The magic day is August 28th! We were dragging our feet on a day due the weird weather we’ve been having, but decided to go for it!

Donuts will be fresh and hot as well! We should have all of our other goodies as too!

Now, I have to get back to work!

Well, well, well!! Is everyone keeping cool! Be safe out there!

Apple season will be here before you know it. We haven’t nailed down an opening date yet. It’s usually the end of August. We were in bloom early so maybe the apples will be ready early? I guess Mother Nature will make the final decision. As soon as we decide, I’ll will post.

Speaking of Mother Nature, we experienced 3 nights of hard frost during our bloom. We will have plenty of apples, just not the crop we are used too. Extreme weather conditions have impacted farms all over Wisconsin. A couple varieties are pretty slim, maybe that means next year they will be loaded 🍎 I suppose we will just have to sell more donuts!

I guess I better get back to work! Have a fantastic day and stay hydrated!
