Another one right out of the breeding pen - this is a hen Aura of Rose Blossom Silkies shared with me some time ago. I have been using her for her rich undercoat color, and we love the couple daughters she has made us.

I was plucking butts so we could hatch some more buffs and I couldn’t help snap a couple pics. This one didn’t make it to the show last weekend but still looks pretty good.

I love when they find the perfect home.

No matter how long you have done this, new genetics get you excited about possibilities - and especially when they come from master breeders you have looked up to since you first got chickens. I’m trully shocked to be setting M&M poultry eggs tonight and to think back on the journey to get here. Some amazing people in this hobby, and I am very thankful my friend told me I could not get TSC chickens from the start. I wish everyone the best spring hatch and hope it is as exciting and fulfilling as ours.

Here is a young hen that hatched the same time as theblue boy. These would both be sired by a Red Barn black I used in the BBS pen. This girl picked up a couple best of variety/reserve varieties wins last year as a pullet.

Ohh the fun topics everyone had today, one of them sparked me grabbing this girl. For those of you that follow the chronicles of the lemon blue - Last spring I showed my lemons which is pretty rare and they actully placed exceptionally well in the breed. The pullet who garnered Reserve of Breed, came home but Jessica twisted my arm and I let her full brother go. The brother had a son - a bit smaller but good feather width and typey - I put him back in the lemon pen and produced several lemon splashes, a couple lemon blues and a golden brown red. Still watching these birds but I have ideas for these lemon splash pullets.
