We only buy whole caracasses directly from local farmers and ranchers, all located within 150 miles of Berkeley. All of our product is pasture raised - no antibiotics, no hormones - just pure, clean meat. Because we buy whole carcasses, we are able to do custom cut butchery – however you want it, we can cut it! All of our butchers are trained chefs who are happy to help you with cooking suggestion

s and recipes. We also make our own sausages, pates, stocks, and sauces as well as a changing Sandwich of the Day!

As a whole-animal butcher shop, we take pride in using every part of the animal.

We do that by educating our community about unique cuts and the many ways to cook them — there’s always something you might love and just haven’t discovered yet.

We also put those specialty cuts to work in the kitchen: they become the star of our sandwich-of-the-day, and the foundation of the slow-cooked, ready-to-go meals you’ll find in our icebox.

Here, you’ll see D breaking down and prepping a pig leg so our kitchen team can cook it down into the delicious deli meats that go into our sandos.

Holiday orders wrap up Friday, the 21st — don’t miss out!
We’ll be closed on Sunday the 24th to prep and pack, and holiday pickups will be Monday–Wednesday (25th, 26th & 27th).

Why did the Rochinos Start TLBS? What was the goal and mission?

Our shop began as an idea in 2009 when Aaron and Monica Rocchino decided they wanted to continue their work in the food industry to have a more direct impact on their community.

At the same time, finding locally sourced, sustainably raised meat to cook at home proved to be difficult. Our doors opened in August of 2011 in the Gourmet Ghetto neighborhood of Berkeley, CA, to help our community solve this situation.

We are now employee-owned and continue to strive to connect with our community and the power of local, high-quality meat and goods.
