We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming of pasture-raised meats, eggs, and local food for a shameless little personal plug. 😄

We are selling our home, and it is certainly bittersweet. This place has served our young family so well, and it has been such a beautiful experience to live in a piece of Arkansas history, especially here in the hometown we love.

Built in 1878 with local hand-hewn limestone, this one-of-a-kind historic farmhouse sits on 13.42 peaceful acres just outside Berryville. The home offers 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and 2,178 square feet of living space, with beautiful hardwood floors, beadboard ceilings, a Vermont soapstone wood-burning stove, and a covered summer porch overlooking the pasture.

The property also includes a private well, pond, year-round and wet-weather springs, a large 30-by-60 workshop and barn, an RV hookup, and plenty of privacy with no neighbors in sight. It truly feels like a quiet little piece of the Ozarks, while still being close to Berryville and Eureka Springs.

We are selling the home by owner, which means you can reach out to us directly with questions or to schedule a showing. No middleman, no pressure, just an opportunity to learn more about the property from the family who has called it home.

‼️A quick reminder from us at Evergreen‼️ — if you have empty milk jars at home, we’d really appreciate getting them returned this weekend or as soon as you can.

Keeping jars in circulation helps us make sure we always have clean jars ready and available for fresh milk at the store each week. Every jar returned truly makes a difference and helps keep things running smoothly.

You can bring them by the store anytime we’re open. Thank you all for supporting local food and helping us keep this little system going strong.

We’re excited to officially open applications for a weekly delivery driver for Evergreen Pasture and Provisions home delivery expansion!!

This role is such an important part of what we do. Every Wednesday morning, you'll load up fresh local items from farms and producers across Northwest Arkansas and deliver it directly to families across Bentonville, Rogers, Centerton, and surrounding areas.

We’re looking for someone dependable, hardworking, kind, and excited to serve our community well. This is a consistent weekly position that starts early Wednesday mornings around 5:00 a.m. in Berryville and usually wraps up close to lunchtime.

You do not need a CDL, but you should be comfortable driving, able to lift coolers and boxes throughout the route, and excited to be part of a growing local food movement here in Northwest Arkansas.

If this sounds like a good fit for you or someone you know, we’d love to hear from you.

And as always, we’d greatly appreciate you sharing this post with someone who may be a great fit for the Evergreen team.

Rain can be a farmer’s best friend and worst enemy all at the same time.

We’ve got a really good stretch of rain in the forecast, and honestly we need it badly to help these pastures, our grass fed beef operation, and hopefully pull us out of the drought conditions we’ve been facing. But at the same time, our pasture chickens just hit 3 weeks old, which is normally when we like to move them outside onto grass.

As ready as they are, cold rain and wet conditions can be tough on young birds, so we’re gonna hold them in the brooder house for another week until the weather clears up. We always want to get birds onto pasture as soon as possible, but our first priority is making sure they’re healthy, comfortable, and set up to thrive.

Over the last few years, cattle farmers have been making some of the best money they’ve ever seen.

But I think something much bigger is quietly happening underneath the surface of the beef industry.

The U.S. cattle herd is near historic lows, while the average farmer is now pushing nearly 60 years old. A lot of producers don’t have kids coming back to the farm, and land prices continue rising.

So what happens over the next 10–20 years?

My two theories:

1. Large corporations slowly buy up land and infrastructure as independent ranchers age out, creating a system more like the poultry industry where growers work for integrators.
2. As beef prices keep climbing at the grocery store, political pressure leads to subsidies or government support for large packers to stabilize prices and supply.

We already watched massive consolidation happen in the hog industry.

History doesn’t always repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.

Curious what y’all think. Are these real concerns, or am I wearing a tin foil hat?

Tips from Lou Ann…who wants to make farmers cheese

Making homemade farmer’s cheese might be one of the easiest ways to use fresh raw milk.

Start with:
• 1/2 gallon full cream raw milk
• 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar OR lemon juice
• Pinch of salt

Instructions:
1. Pour milk into a pot and slowly heat until it begins to steam and lightly simmer. Stir occasionally so it doesn’t scorch.
2. Remove from heat and stir in the apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
3. Let sit for 10 minutes while the curds separate from the whey.
4. Pour through a cheesecloth or clean towel in a strainer.
5. Add a pinch of salt and gently squeeze out excess liquid.
6. Let it hang or drain for 30 minutes to an hour depending on how soft or firm you want the cheese.

Spread it on toast, drizzle with honey, add herbs, or eat it fresh warm from the kitchen. Simple food done the old-fashioned way.
