Farm Direct Minnesota will be a little quieter over Memorial Day weekend as we take time to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.
While many of us will be firing up grills, gathering with family, and enjoying , may we also pause with gratitude for the sacrifices made, the families who carry that loss, and the freedoms we are blessed to have because of them.

World Bee Day is a reminder of how important bees and other pollinators are to our farms, gardens, food system, and local ecosystems.

🥩 May is National Beef Month! 🥩

Minnesota is home to thousands of beef farmers and ranchers — and something I love to point out is that so many of them are smaller family farms.

According to the USDA Census of Agriculture, 84% of Minnesota farms with beef cows have fewer than 50 cows, and 94% have fewer than 100. That means much of Minnesota’s beef story is being written by local farms and ranching families across our state.

At Farm Direct Minnesota, I’m proud to help connect shoppers directly with those producers. We currently have 74 Minnesota beef farms listed on the Farm Direct Minnesota directory map!

🌱 May marks the unofficial start of Minnesota’s 2026 farmers market season, with many major Twin Cities-area markets opening between May 2 and May 17.

Early-season favorites are starting to appear, including asparagus, rhubarb, radishes, spinach, spring greens, and bedding plants — a beautiful first taste of the growing season ahead. 🌷
