This picture is us on vacation a couple of weeks ago, smiling, relaxed, and enjoying some time to be people again. Within a day of reopening we had two pieces of equipment break and a new hire leave. It took one day for all the stress, exhaustion, and panic attacks to return.
We're telling you this because Yeto's is at an impasse. We're simply too busy for our current size. On many nights we turn away as many tables as we seat and often have takeout wait times up to two hours. We have no room to grow in our current spot. D&G is still in its awkward freshman stages and despite our wonderful team we haven't been able to give it the kind of attention it deserves and needs.
Our options: continue on as we are overworked, overtired, and understaffed until we can try to negotiate expanding within the building. Or we try to find a new larger space and commit more time and capital into moving. Somehow staff and train for a larger location, something we are struggling to do in our current smaller location, and commit to long hours for years to get to a point where we can step back.
Finally we made a very difficult decision, one we hadn't planned on making. We've decided to close Yeto's and D&G at the end of December. It's hard to walk away from something we've worked so hard to create and build. It's especially hard to leave this great community of supporters, but we feel it's time for a change.
We have loved our time at Yeto's and D&G and don't regret it. We are extremely proud to have started with nothing and built two successful businesses. We've had the pleasure of working with a great staff, many of whom we consider dear friends. We absolutely love Biddeford and this community. But it's time to recognize the toll that everything has had on us mentally and physically.
This past year has been challenging. We've dealt with inconsistent supply chains, price fluctuations, difficult and often rude customers, pandemic fears, broken equipment, staffing shortages, and long hours. As much as we hate to say goodbye and feel like we are letting so many of you down, we also feel a sense of relief and excitement about our next chapter. We're ready to face it with smiles again
