Business founder Amos Kauffman planted the first fruit trees about 1911 and started selling fruit at a roadside stand in 1915. Over the decades, the business has expanded by adding orchards from neighboring farms and creating new product lines such as Sweet Apple Cider and Homemade Apple Butter. Today, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th generations of Kauffmans operate this historic Lancaster County business.

Gala has quickly climbed the ladder of fame 🌟 worldwide, throughout the United States – and even at Kauffman Orchards in a corner of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country! 🌾🍎

Originating in an Ohio orchard in the waning years of the 20th century, Blondee is an apple worth coming back for, again and again, as the days are becoming a bit shorter and cooler.

🍐 A Season of Perseverance 🍐

As you might know, that historic April freeze decimated tree fruit crops in the orchard this year. Our pear acreage produced best with perhaps 40% of the normal crop load. We haven’t seen a cherry or plum to sell in the market.

Despite all that, we forged ahead with our pear organic certification process, which we’re expecting to complete by 2028. 🍐

✨ What Does That Mean? ✨

Beyond what isn’t done — no pesticides, no fungicides, no miticides — more important for nutrient-dense, healthful results is what IS done. 🍐

We spend lots of time, effort, and $$$ to apply all kinds of good stuff to our soil and trees — like liquid humus, volcanic ash, cinnamon oil, and more! 🌱🍐
