All across the country we’re hearing from market managers about decreased vendor attendance and fewer transactions, but thanks to community support, our market is bucking the trend. Our seasonal dip in July and August was a little more pronounced than usual, mostly due to more extreme weather than we’ve seen in recent years, but in the last 6 weeks alone we’ve had over 100 requests for new vendor applications and 30 submissions of applications from those interested vendors.
We have reached a point where a LOT of people (almost 75% of our interested participants!) are looking to use our cottage food laws to supplement income or as a proving ground for new businesses, but the unfortunate truth is we don’t have enough room to accept an unlimited amount of bakers. So we want to hear from you as we hope to inspire potential vendors… What is missing at the market that you’d want to see and support? We have at least one orchard joining us in the coming weeks to fill the void of fresh fruit for the season!
