Beets-for-Beats: the Blacksburg Farmers Market is recruiting musicians for our Beets-4-Beats program, a partnership to promote local music & local food at our beautiful Market Square Park in downtown Blacksburg. Musicians will play in exchange for a bounty of fresh organic produce from local hard-working music-loving farmers. On market days when music is not pre-scheduled, drop-by buskers are high

*Produce available for barter is not limited to beets but will also include a variety of local seasonal fresh-picked vegetables & fruits, eggs, meat, cheese & milk, artisanal breads & baked goods, icecream, honey, flowers, plants, crafts, hot ready-to-eat foods, and lots more!! OldTime Jam: Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam is a weekly oldtime jam session that takes place in the warmer months on Wednesday evenings after the farmer’s market has ended. The jam goes from 8-11PM and it is open to the public. Bring an acoustic instrument and a chair if you can. Most tunes played are traditional, well-known oldtime tunes. Special Events: The Farmers Market hosts a variety of special events celebrating seasonal produce with food tastings, activities for kids, & live music. Events include an Egg Festival, Gardening Day, Breakfast & Art at the Market, Solstice Chef, Tomato Tasting, Garlic Festival, Apple Tasting, Squash Bash, & Holiday Markets. Mingle at the Market: a summertime series of family-friendly events, “Mingle at the Market” takes place during the second Wednesday market of every month from June to October, with live music from 5-7pm. Locally produced wine and beer will be available by the glass. All proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Farmers Market organization. Come enjoy various finger foods created by market vendors along with our usual bounty of local produce.
