Heading to the market today? Be sure to stop by ! They shared with us their experience as new vendors to the market, and new farmers:

“We like to consider ourselves a Market Garden. We grow all the things you’d find at a seasonal farm stand. From cut flowers, to greens, root veggies, squash, onions. We cover a lot of bases! We grow on about an acre and half, only 4.5 miles from the Boise Farmers Market! So we’re a small, urban operation.

Sustainability is very important to our project. We work hard to make sure we take care of soil health and use organic practices. We know taking these extra steps pays off in the quality of vegetables and longevity of the land.

As a new business, BFM has been a great platform for getting our name out and veggies to the people! We’re only in our second year of operations and we’ve had such a welcoming response from both vendors and patrons. We’re excited to keep growing food, flowers and community.”

Heading to the market today? Be sure to stop by and say hello to Jessica Harold, owner of and !

Jessica shared with us her experience as a vendor at the Boise Farmers Market, and the importance of community to her business practices.

“We have been with the market for almost 10 years! We keep a very diverse microfarm, so we bring a wide variety of products to market! We grow medicinal herbs for our natural skincare line, apis. We make pantry goods from local produce, craft artisan goods from wool from our sheep, raise spray-free flowers for bouquets, and have a diverse poultry operation, including free-range eggs and holiday turkeys.

Our business model is to be a GOOD business - to be good stewards of the land; source high-quality ingredients; support other small businesses; and treat employees fairly. We run our business based on our values, not cutting costs. That means we provide value at every level of engagement. Our customers receive well-made goods that they know were created with intention.

Community means the most. I think it’s the foundation for all of the other BFM values. I love the market because of the connections and friendships that I’ve made over the past ten years. Those connections show the integrity of local farms and provide education about our local food system. Market shoppers get to learn more about my business and how we operate, and all of the steps we take for sustainability. I get to hear what’s important to them, and try to meet the needs of the community that’s showing up. It’s all based on trust and connection, and showing up for each other.

Our intention is to build up our community this year! We have opened up our studio space in Garden City for people to come visit, take classes, and connect with us more than just Saturday mornings. You can find our space at The Art Block at 106 W 31st St.”
