Happy Holidays Everyone!!!! I know I've been MIA for awhile and I apologize. I miss you all and Mama Cocoa's Delight like crazy, especially this time of year. Right now I'm the Pastry Chef at Rural Society, which is Iron Chef Jose Garces new restaurant located in the Loews Madison Hotel in DC. Here's a blog write up about a gingerbread house we made. My Loves,

Mama Cocoa's Delights is closing. Our last day will be this Sunday March 30th. I would like to Thank all of you for giving me three of the most amazing years of my life. Your support, big or small, helped make my dream a reality. Thank you.

Before I answer your questions, I would like to invite you to a party. At first I thought that I would just close the shop and disappear. But that's not my style. So I'm going to do this the Mama Cocoa way and have a party with champagne! Please join me this Sunday to celebrate the last three years. Let's toast to the friendships, the love, the fun times and the candy! Let's celebrate the fact that I was able to live my dream for three years. So please, please join me Sunday from 12:30 to 5:00 pm.

Now let's answer some of your questions.

Why? It's hard to pin down just one reason. This is our busy season and there have been several things out of my control that have negatively affected it. The fall/winter has been rough on a lot of small businesses.
Why can't you stay open till Easter, won't Easter help? Easter is a great time for us but it won't make up for a slow season.
What will you do Mama Cocoa? I'm a Pastry Chef. I will go back to working as one in a restaurant or a hotel.
Will you make cakes and candies on the side? No, working as a Chef is really demanding, and I won't make promises I can't keep.
How do you feel Mama C.? I am heartbroken, completely heartbroken. But I am also glad I was able to meet so many wonderful people. I'm happy that I got to help people explore chocolates and sweets. And regardless of the end Mama Cocoa's Delights was a ton of fun!
Will you ever open again? I don't know. But I won't take that card off the table.

We have some fun new goodies for you this week!! Yay Sweets!!! In additions to our wonderful candies this week we are featuring 4 new sweets!

First we have a Chocolate & Strawberry Mousse cups topped with crunchy cookie crumbs. The creamy chocolate mousse and the sweet strawberry mousse are layered together beautifully.

Then we have our decadent Nutella cheesecake. Oh yeah, we combined your favorite chocolate hazelnut spread with our already amazing cheesecake. Yes, you want this, you know you do.

And finally our two cupcake flavors this week are Key lime, and German Chocolate.

On Tuesday February 18th Mama Cocoa’s Delights celebrated our 3rd birthday!! WOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!

We are so excited to have beaten the odds and survived 3 years. So to celebrate we are giving away birthday cupcakes! You read that right FREE CUPCAKES!!! Stop by this Saturday the 22nd for a FREE CUPCAKE!! Happy Birthday to us!!

Come in and meet our newest cookie. This cookie. . . well this cookie is simply amazing. It is a chocolate shortbread cookie that is so rich and chocolately, Mama C. describes it as the sexiest cookie she’s ever had. Once we sprinkle the cookie with sea salt, it pushes it to a whole other level. Mama C. racked her brain trying to find a way to let everyone know just how chocolately and sexy this cookie is. Then it hit her, and she named it The Idris. And yes, if you are wondering, it’s that good!

Dear friends, we were scheduled to reopen today after our long winter break. Unfortunately Mama C. is rebuilding her strength after being bitten by the flu bug. Hopefully we will be all better by Friday, but please be patient with us in the mean time. Stay healthy!

Hey DMV check us out tonight on CTV which is channel 42 on Fios and channel 76 on Comcast. The times are 4:30, 5:30, 8:30 and 11:30. Mama C was making some sweet treats!!
