Sweet Corn! We’ve got no spray Sweet Corn from South Hampton and it is soooo sweet and incredible! Head on over, we’re not sure how long we’ll have it because we know it will be popular!

Meet Al, our new trial crew member 😉 👽🛸
With a few crew members headed back to school, we needed some help to fill the gaps.

Al is in his trial period - and tbh? It’s already not going that well. We’re not sure he’s going to make it as a long term employee. He can’t kneel. He can't hold up his head. He can’t be on harvest because even a tiny injury with a harvest knife would be fatal!

But, we have a growth mindset and hope he can pick up the slack this week. Look for more adventures with Al trying to learn how to farm this week as Exeter gets ready for its annual UFO Festival! 🤣

Welcome Lettuce Lovers! Growing Greens is what we do! Fresh, Clean, Certified Organic Lettuce Mix is available all season long.

We’re making lots of new friends lately as folks seek out reliable sources of fresh produce - especially Lettuce Mix - that is safe to eat. Welcome! We're glad you're here!

We’re happy to welcome more of our community into our Farm Store and excited to meet you all. Our mission is to grow clean, healthy, Certified Organic food for our Community, and we’re here for you with a wide variety of great local food.

Lettuce Mix is one of our most popular crops here at Stout Oak Farm, and one we are really experienced at growing! Alongside our nutrient rich Microgreens and flavorful Tomatoes, people seek us out for the quality, taste, and longevity of our salad greens - plus the fact that everything we grow is Certified Organic!

Grown, Harvested, Washed, and Packed by Hand - From sowing the seeds in trays in the greenhouse, to transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing and bagging it up - every step is done by hand. This kind of work means we are up close and personal with all of your greens, in the best way. We have our eyes on the quality of each leaf, and have systems for all the steps. This is one of the big reasons the quality is so great.

In our Wash Station, we triple wash the Lettuce Mix in three separate tanks of clean cold well water. This means our bagged Lettuce Mix is ready to enjoy and ensures top quality, too.

We plant new successions of Lettuce Mix every single week from April through late October, so that we can harvest it fresh 22 weeks of the year. Each week, we typically harvest over 100 pounds of Lettuce Mix - that’s 300 retail bags per week!

We know folks are concerned about food safety, and we’re glad you are seeking us out and asking good questions. We have specific systems in place to ensure that the food we grow is safe to eat, including a VT CAPS Certification and a Food Safety Plan. We're happy to answer any questions you have!

Golden oat straw mulch arrived today (not this whole truckload but we wish!) We use straw for mulch in a major way - in place of very commonly used single use plastic mulch. Yes, it’s a lot of work. Yes, it’s kinda expensive! But it adds beautiful organic material while suppressing weeds, and we don’t have a dumpster of plastic at the end of every season.

Ps we love the straw delivery driver. He’s the same guy every year and he really works to get it as close as he can then throws the bales down to us. He does such a great job!

We’re doing all we can to keep our baby lettuce plants happy in this long stretch of hot days. Sprinklers, shade tunnels, daily check-ins - our weekly Lettuce Mix plantings get all the special treatment. They all seem pretty happy at the moment. 🤩
