Starting mint cuttings, trialing growing turmeric and Sri Lanka ginger. Gathering rubs ingredients, and paprika seeds for planting next month; excited about Kashmiri peppers, Aleppos, and espelette varieties, as well as garlic fall plantings. which hav have been up, and froze-flopped over a few times. Expanding hives to 2 other sites, and attempting to expand honey comb production . Looking forward to missed mini potatoes not harvested for spring sowing. Will have loads of new seedlings to get into the ground, and get a peek at he new 3 year old asparagus seedlings at the end of April. Hope that the groundhog was accurate. 😄😄😄😄😄😄

Spring's not far off, but the temperature is brrrrr. Trialing new greens varieties, have sprouted honey nut squash trace seeds, have a few haricot verts pole beans, a few cherry tomatoes on fencing, also serano and jalepeno chili peppers, herbs, all in large tubs, and will begin cold weather crops outside in April, rooting ginger and minto in water, potting up hoja santa plants, and experimenting with dry herb mixtures for rubs, and herbal teas. Asparagus, and bananaswere tucked in October, used Bob Well's Biochar for new beds, and will continue to amend our soil with this earth/enviroment natural non-peat improvement also added to all our earth bags.

Picking small Asian and bosq pears, as well as small apples for Wednesday's Welfleet Farmers market. They'll be perfect for picklng. Will be bringing nettles for tea, soup, and pesto, as well as epazote for post bean consumption eminations; also honey creme, raw honey, cedar oyster shuckers, fish and meat rubs, paprikas, and hibiscus, and Rose of Sharon dried herbal teas. Beans, squash, cilantro, and Thai basil are comfy in our 15-100 gallon earth pots. Our potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and scallions really liked the recent rains. The race is on to harvest our mulberries before the birds, squirrels, chippies, and raccoons grab them; Invasive bamboo has overrun our black currants. Where are those cute pandas when you need them ? busy week ahead, but take time in the late afternoon to watch the baby swallows gamboling through the breezes on our hill, and the Baltimore orioles hamging nest in our leaning locust tree. Bees appear to be active. Hooray for summer !

Made 1st batch of Cape Cod Merquen today, and had my first glass of dry roasted hibiscus flowers iced tea; definitely an acquired taste like non sweet cranberry juice. Greens, and peas are up as is the proliferation of nettles which will be available for soups, braised salads, pesto, and hung up to dry for later use as a tea.

Last night made an Impossible Burger Meat terrine wrapped in a La Tortilleria flour tortilla seasoned with our apple smoked ancho paprika, topped with a bit of seeded mustard, yummm. Will be introducing palatal massages in the forms of lemon lime fish and chicken rubs, Mediterranean meat rubs, and 500-15,000 Scoville paprikas in addition to our espelette, Portuguese hot, and acho velvet offerings. The cloying fragrance of drying lemons fill the room. Also thinking about dried hibiscus and Rose of Sharon confections. Would appreciate any recommendations about drying pandas; have many tall plants with harvest ready dark green leaves.

"it's Spring again, and birds on the birds on the wing again, softly sing again, loves sweet melody." Working the dirt again in Brewster with Fall propagated hydrangea scions budding, 100 gallon earth pots sown with greens, radishes, mustard, arugula, 30 bags of mammoth Oregon peas, and garlic scallions; also planted mini-yukon gold, NY state abundant, and fingerling potatoes. Garlic planted in October has re-emerged for the 3rd time, and the buds are slowing growing on our Rose of Sharon trees bringing in July red throated white edible hibiscus flowers for salads, dipping, and garnishing. Red wigglers made it through the winter in their compost pails, and still searching for our multiple rhubarb plants started last Spring. Grew lots of habanero peppers this winter which are going to be added to our list of paprikas offered this year at the attended farmers' market. Also began harvesting Hoja Santas leaves for tamale wrappers, and fresh pandam this winter.

A friend in Chatham is looking for an experienced landscaping assistant or intern starting immediately; inquiries for the position can be made c/o [email protected].

Finished first round of apple smoked habanero paprika for a 250,000 Scoville units of major culinary heat. Have been propagating pandan, Okinawan spinach, and South Seas Salad plants. First crop of creole garlic has germinated in 15 gallon grow bags. Trialing, and transplanting 90 day spaghetti squash plants. Will start greens, and peas next month in Brewster. Used the last pint of our oven charred stewed tomatoes yesterday, and going on to instaPot cottage cheese, and labneh. Just ate some of our Hoja Santa leaf wrapped labneh cheese which aged 90 days in a wine cooler which was mild tasting, firm consistency, and about the size of a Boursin cheese. Overrun with vining Cuban oregano this season. So much activity, too little time.

Farewell beloved poet, Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Loved your efforts since the 50's
