I’m going back back to Washington..!!
In the early 2000’s Martin (my brother). Married his high school sweetheart and together started a family in California.
During this time Martin saw in opportunity in the construction industry and off he went operating his company building pool, patio and all kinds outdoor landscaping.
Things were in the up and up until the housing market crash so Martin and his now family of 5 did what any other family would do, move back home in times of crisis.
Martin moved back to Brewster in the late 2000s and saw that the agriculture industry was still the biggest source in Brewster and just like that he pick up where Matin Sr left off 10 year prior.
Opening his own taco stand “Puerto Nuevo”
And establishing a name for himself in the town and surrounding areas as one of the best places to eat.
Martin and Griselda partnered up with Griselda’s brother and sister in law and opened the now famous “Mi Pueblo’s Mexican grill “ and I think we all know how amazing that place is.!!

In my next post I’ll share why my family and I moved back to Brewster and the person in our life’s that saw our vision and opened up the doors to us in a BIG way!!!

We know that the store of Monse has been part of this community for more then 100 years and that’s a lot of history but this is our story.

In 1978 Martin and Carmen pronounced their love and got married in a little town in Michoacan. Shortly after that they made the hardest decision anyone could make, leaving everything behind and start a new life “en el Norte”.
Soon after arriving in California, Martin and Carmen saw in opposition to be in the food and retail business.
With nothing more than a couple buck saved, a big dream and with with a entrepreneur mindset they bought a taco wagon, marking the beginning of a successful business.
In 1992 and with now three kids los hurtados did what any entrepreneur would do, continue to find new opportunities.
And so we migrated to Washington state. Pateros became our home for the first year and for the next 7 years we would go back and forth between Washington and California.
Brewster became our home and we would go to school here and in the summer we would worked in the taco wagon chasing the hardest of the cherries and apples.
In 2000 Martin and Carmen decided that it was time to move back home for good and California was the place they wanted to be.
So why are we here in Monse today you might asked?
