On the stand today, heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, and egg plant.
The heirloom tomatoes are great in salads or sauces. They have a rich flavor to them. Some are in the “everything is 50 cents” box…which is a great deal for organic heirlooms.
I have also picked some smaller egg pants, recognizing that some prefer the smaller, less seedy ones. They are priced different as well, based on size. The smaller ones fry well if making egg plant parm.
I am harvesting the last of the Cherry and grape tomatoes. Recommendation…try making marinara with the cherry tomatoes…they bring a sweet taste with less seeds. They are only a dollar a basket, and we will have dozens upon dozens of baskets.
Romas are next. I am just waiting to sun ripe them a little more to bring out the taste.
Finally. In the next couple of weeks, the basil will get harvested. This is fresh, organic basil that compliments the tomatoes well. Bags of basil are ready now upon request.
