MONDAY, MAY 25, 2026:

I'm getting a number of texts and calls of people wanting strawberries. We're out picking now but rain is coming in soon. We'll do what we can, so if you're wanting some AND will come get them, regardless of rain, please text me (include your name and # of gallons wanting) and we will try hard to get them for you. Time and quantities are going to be limited.

If you want to pick some yourself, come on out.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

SATURDAY, MAY 23, 2026:

If you are wanting some strawberries for Memorial Day celebrations, come on out to Planting Roots Farm and pick some up. Dad and I will be out in the field getting some picked for you. If you want to pick some yourself, you are welcome to do that as well, just wear rain boots or closed toed shoes because it will be muddy. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

The field is wet from the recent rains, but there are berries out there to be picked so that's what we're doing. There will also be berries that will be water-logged, but we'll try our best to get those removed and disposed of. Come on out and get some strawberries, we're here to help you get some of the best strawberries around.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2026:

If you're wanting to get some strawberries before the next multiple days of rain sets in, please come get them today. I'm in the field picking and the golf cart we place them in is setting right at the edge of the field, just inside the fence. Walk to the golf cart and I'll meet you there. Come to my parent's house - right next door to the farm.

MONDAY, MAY 18, 2026:

It's been a very busy Monday all day long. Dad and I have been picking strawberries just as fast and hard as we can go all day and can't get caught up. For those wanting some today, you'll have to park in the front yard and walk to the golf cart just inside the fence by the shop. I'm in the field picking and can't see the driveway so you'll have to let me know you're here by coming to the golf cart. We have pre-picked berries available and you can do a U-Pick as well if you want to. Rain is forecasted to start Wednesday and go for a week so if you want some berries, you might want to think about getting some before Wednesday.

SATURDAY, MAY 16, 2026:

If you are wanting to do a U-Pick for strawberries today, the field is open. We've been sending bunches of berries out all week long and these are some of the best berries of the season. There's berries out there and I will be out there helping you find some of the best ones so come on out and enjoy some of the family fun. Field opens at 10AM.

If you have a white, round, 1 gallon berry basket at your house, you are welcome to bring it to pick in. If not, we'll have some baskets here. If possible, please bring a colander or mixing bowl to transfer the berries to once you are finished picking (unless you are using your own berry basket).. Bring $10's and $5's, U-Pick is $15/gallon. Pre-picked is $22/gallon.

See y'all soon!!!

TUESDAY, MAY 12, 2026:

It's been a wonderfully busy morning with U-Pickers. Currently, I have 6 gallon of berries remaining for the day. If you are wanting some today, please come get them ASAP. Once these are gone, I'm closing for the day and going to the field to help dad get more peas in the ground. The others we planted are looking beautiful!!

Super sweet onions will be the next item available, either later this month or first part of June (weather has a lot to do with that). Cucumbers and yellow squash are coming along as well. Okra is already planted and we will make tomatoes available to people in this area too, fairly soon. More information on tomatoes in about a week.

MONDAY, MAY 11, 2026:

Thank you everyone who has stopped by and picked up some strawberries and posted/shared what you did with/made from them. The pictures are great!! Glad you all are coming up with some really awesome ideas.

We are picking today and they are turning out to make some great looking baskets full of some beautiful strawberries. This week and most of next week will be a great time to stop in and get some of these Marion County Alabama grown strawberries if you are wanting some. The weather is warming up and turning out to be a much greater help to the strawberries in the field and the rains have slacked off a little as well, which is a great help too. U-Pickers are welcome to come out any day we are in the field and anytime 10AM or after. The earlier the better because we try our best to keep the ripe berries picked everyday, if possible, so let me know the day and time you want to be here so we can make sure and keep an area available for you to come pick yourself.

The ones we have picked today will be ready at 3:30PM. I'll be at my parent's house, under the oak tree in the front yard with the baskets full of berries in the back of the golf cart. Make plans to come see us or send someone if you can't make it yourself. When I sell out, I close everything down for the day. Bring a colander, mixing bowl or small flat box if possible. I have some cardboard flats but it may not be enough. NO PLASTIC BAGS...berries sweat and stick to the bags, not good.

See y'all soon!!

FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2026:

If you want to U-Pick for Mother's Day, then today is the day. The field will open at 10AM and the early bird gets the best berries. There are quite a few of them out there.

We will also be picking as well and will have those available at 3:30PM for anyone who wants them.

When we checked the weather forecast on about 4 different apps last night, rain was forecast again for tonight, starting anywhere after mid-night and going until about 5 or 6AM. That means we'll need to get all the ripe berries out of the field today so rain doesn't ruin them, saying the forecast is correct. SO, come get them as quickly as you can, if you're wanting some for Mother's Day. If we clean the field today and it rains tonight, there may not be much to pick from tomorrow.

Come on out, it doesn't take long to pick a gallon and when you get home to eat them, they'll taste even better because you put the effort into deciding which ones you wanted. We will be in the field probably all day, so come on out to the field when you arrive.

THURSDAY, MAY 7, 2026:

The rain that came through yesterday, last night and even earlier this morning, bought a lot of water into this area so the strawberry field is a bit soggy right now. With the sun coming out and helping to dry things up a bit, it shouldn't stay too wet for too long. We will open the field on Friday and Saturday at 10AM both days, for any who wish to do a U-Pick for Mother's Day on Sunday. There are some berries ready to be picked up today at 3:30PM, if someone is wanting ones we have already picked. I also have 2 gallons of jam berries (smaller and/or misshapen berries) for sale if anyone is wanting those. They would be great to chop up or mash to make jam products out of. Great gifts for Mother's Day as well. Text me your name and what time you could pick them up if you're wanting the jam berries.

Okay, it's Monday!!

Dad and I have been in the field today cleaning everything up from the rain damage and all the wonderful U-Pickers that were out here this past Saturday. Lots of kiddos came and I think they all had a blast. Thank you everyone for cleaning the field of berries. You did a great job!!! You did so well that about all I'm getting for today are the ones that need to be disposed of due to the rains. Yep, it's not something I like doing but it has to be done so the delicious ones can do their thing.

We will not have any berries for sale today due to spending a lot of time getting everything back in order. We're pumping water and more nutrients to the berries to keep them growing into the big ones everyone enjoys. We do plan to be open tomorrow and sell whatever comes out of the field when we open the farm stand at 3:30PM. The berries are at my parent's house this year, which is right next door to the farm. There's a sign on the farm gate pointing toward my parent's house (for those who don't know or haven't been here before).

SEE YA TOMORROW!!

05/01/2026

I'm working on getting more strawberries out of the field. It's a cool day with very little sun but I'm doing everything I can to get as many as I can for today at 3:30.

If you are wanting to bring your children for a U-Pick, today and tomorrow would be a great time. The field is full and I can only do so much by myself. This field is too big for just one person. Bring your kiddos and come on out for some fun in the field. Wear rain boots, clothes that can get dirty and put a cloth over the seats in your car. Restroom services are limited, so please go before arriving if possible. Today or tomorrow morning starting at 10AM (let the dew dry off some). There is plenty in the field for everyone so come join in the fun. Everyone should experience picking strawberries at least once in their lives. I'll give you some tips on how to look for the best berries so you can fill your own basket with some of the best juicy sweetness you'll find in this area. I'll be here in the field to help you look and learn.

U-Pick is $15/gallon
If I pick them, they're $22/gallon
