Just a reminder that today is out last regular hours for the season! We will be around occasionally the next two weeks cleaning stuff up for fall, but we will no longer have regular hours. Still lots of great produce, so come stock up.

One last big picking of field tomatoes and enough pumpkins to restock the lot for this weekend. This will more than likely be the last picking of the year outside potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and a few tomatoes from inside the greenhouses. Pretty crazy year to be honest. 99 continous days of sweetcorn with 0 gaps. Should finish with more than 100 days of tomatoes. Both of which are virtually unheard of for Wisconisn. The day before the first freeze is usually a big scramble, but honestly we had most everything picked this year. We have a great supply of everything fall, and I think that'll stay true until we close after next weekend. It absolutely bonkers that we might still have some tomatoes that whole time, and probably some peppers and eggplants for a few more days. This is likely last call on those however. Hope to see everyone at least one last time for a final taste of summer, or to stock up on potatoes, squash, and onions for fall!

Did fall sneak up on you this year? Not to worry, we still have some amazing pumpkins. We'll be picking all week amd fully stocked for the weekend. Honestly, this is one of the more impressive crops we've ever grow, lots of huge jack o lanterns with amazing stems! Since we have so many huge ones this year, we've decided to keep them really reasonably priced with virtually everything under $10.

While corn is done for the year, we still have lots of delicious tomatoes!!

FALL is in full swing. Were still cutting and bringing up hundreds of pumpkins almost every day. Pretty hard to express how incredibly rare it is to still be picking beautiful tomatoes off of live plants in the middle of October, but these still are nearly as nice as they were in the middle of August. Only 3 more weekends until the end of the season, so don't take this long fall for granted.

Well, it looks like the sweetcorn will make it through the weekend. This field continues to surprise me. Purple cauliflower is back, brussels are in, and the tomato tables are still loaded. Pretty crazy produce for us in October. Stay turned for a fall update later today!

We still have sweetcorn! Its actually not that crazy to have sweetcorn into early October. Definitely not the norm, but probably once every 3 years or so it goes this late. However, it is crazy to have sweetcorn this nice this late in the year. We just had some for dinner last night and its probably almost as good as anything we've had all year. Great flavor, nice size, no worms. You could definitely freeze this if you thought you missed you chance. This is 100% the last patch, though I dont have a definite end date. My best guess would be a few more days, but probably not the weekend.

In other produce news, tomatoes and peppers continue to be exceptional. Fall cauliflower, cabbage, and broccolini are all very nice. Tons of winter squash, potatoes, onions, shallots, and apples. We just started harvesting the best tasting carrots weve ever grown on the farm. Really, honestly, a fantastic produce selection for October in Wisconsin.

While this summery September has blessed us with an early fall abundance, the reality of the calendar is starting to set in. I think that I, like many others, started to believe this season might just go on forever. Just recently, its become obvious this isnt true. While the tomatoes still look great, there are very few green ones left on the plant. There's a good chance that the zucchini we picked today are the last for the year. There's only a few hundred cauliflower left in the field and just about every pumpkin is orange now. So here's the reminder, is going to end. And when it does it'll be 9 months until you want a BLT or sweetcorn again. Come take advantage of this crazy season and get your October summer produce fix.

If you're the kind of person that needs to have first crack at the most unique fall decorations, we are bringing up some truly wild gourds tomorrow. Most will be $5, with the smaller ones thrown in with the 3.50 3/$10 pie pumpkins. There are about a dozen of the absolute wildest ones in the field that will be individually marked at around $8 each.

The fall groundhog must have seen its shadow, because were going to have two more weekends of corn. Plants have an interesting way of making a liar out of you. Not even a week ago, I said that we started the last patch of corn for the year. At the time, I didn't have a whole lot of hope for this year's late patch to turn out. The forecast called for constant rain and cool temps/which arent a great recipe for corn. It's turned out it wasn't nearly as cold as they predicted and the rain helped push it along. Still very few earworms and really a nice looking corn now. We'll start this last patch sometime Saturday and expect it to go for at least a week. This is a big patch, so it honestly could go longer.

We've also managed to get the fall setup pretty well stocked. Still lots of volume to come up, but there's some of almost everything up there now. Just brought up 300 mums yesterday, so plenty to choose from.

Tomatoes continue to be pretty incredible right now. We definitely are dealing with some splitting in the field after a week of constant rain, but for now we are still picking some incredible tomatoes. We will have bulk quantities available this weekend, though we are much closer to the end of that season than we are to the start. I expect to have some amount of tomatoes through a good portion of October, but the reality is that they could end any time now if the weather turns.

Today we start what is, most likely, the last patch of sweetcorn for 2025. It's a good one to go out on. Big, well filled ears and the earworms we've been dealing with the last two weeks are all but gone. It's a fair sized patch, and with the cooler days, I'd expect it last roughly a week.

There is one more large patch planted after this week, but it really got held back by that August cold snap. My magic 8 ball says "don't count on it" everytime I go out to check on that last field to see what I think about it. If it makes it and makes good quality corn, it wouldn't be until about the first or second week of October. Every part of my intuition says its just not meant to be, but who knows, maybe it'll be a happy surprise. For now, id recommend you get some this week if you want a last taste of summer sweetcorn.

Few more things likely ending on or around this upcoming week : watermelon, cucumbers, Pickling cucumbers. Zucchini and eggplant probably wont go away completely, but there wont be as many. Still lots of tomatoes, potatoes, winter squash, and peppers.

As we progress through September, its becoming a bit more clear when certain season will likely end. We are on what is most likely our second to last patch of sweetcorn for the year. While its nice corn for mid September, the ear worm pressure is extremely high. Virtually every ear will have damage to the tip.

Good and bad news. The bad news is that we will likely start our last patch on this Saturday. That means we will likely have corn until about the 26th of September and that will be it for the season. The good news, it looks like the earworms are almost completely gone for the last patch!

Fall rolls in and brings with it lots of new exciting things! Honeycrisps today!!

A family affair

We are a 5th generation family farm based out of Mukwonago WI focusing on bringing the freshest produce directly to the consumer; grown without shortcuts, and using the most environmentally responsible practices possible. In the Brookfield/New Berlin area where my grandfather started growing sweetcorn, we have become a household name. Many still remember him selling at the end of our farm, on Moorland Rd. out of the back of a blue or yellow truck. Since then, Brookfield has blossomed from a small rural community to a heavily residential area, and our farm has relocated to Mukwonago. We did, however, keep a small parcel of land to build a farmstore. In the 80’s my parents Chris and Nancy branched off and grew a few bedding plants, which quickly grew into a business of its own. We are pleased to be able to offer a great selection of annual bedding plants, along with one of the areas best selection of vegetable and herb plant in the spring, delicious vegetables picked fresh daily throughout the summer and fall, and natural decorations in the fall.
