Wow!! Espinaler!!
- THE Catalan Classic! We got to catch up after the Fancy Food Show in NYC, and it was great to visit the tavern in BCN. This team knows how to host - Since 1896 when the original seaside “taverna” started just outside Barcelona (2 spots now), this family has come to represent the highest quality of products when it comes to setting a table - either at home or at the tavern. They’ve grown over generations - first the tavern, then vermut, to the iconic Salsa Espinaler, then to their insane conservas, and now, more widely to us in the US. The real honor was when Jordi introduced us to Miguel, the current generation. The family’s still running the show - he had that energy that only a tavern owner can have - lighting up the room - and they have a huge place.
