Well look at that…

The sun finally showed up. ☀️

After what feels like 47 straight days of rain, it’s actually a pretty nice Saturday out there. A little windy? Sure. But compared to last weekend, I’ll take it.

So here’s my recommendation for today:

Get out of the house.

Come grab a BBQ sandwich. Sit outside. Play a game of Giant Jenga. Challenge your kids to Connect Four. Beat your spouse at co****le and then spend the rest of the day reminding them about it.

CONFESSION TIME.

If you didn’t know… I grew up in an apartment in Brooklyn. We didn’t have a garden. We didn’t even have a backyard. Honestly, if you told 12-year-old Jared he’d someday run a farm market and garden center he would’ve laughed in your face while eating pizza on a stoop somewhere.

So I’ll admit it… flowers, vegetables, hanging baskets, watering schedules, deadheading petunias… all this stuff still throws me for a loop sometimes.

I’m learning.

And while I gave it everything I had this spring, I also know Stonehenge has a reputation people care about. Folks have been coming here for YEARS for beautiful plants, strong selection, and good value. That matters to me.

So instead of pretending I’ve got it all figured out… I’m doing what I think is the right thing.

Well… Memorial Day weekend has been a complete wash out 😂☔

Rain all day Saturday.
Rain all day Sunday.
And now rain all day Monday too.

At this point instead of building a garden center I probably should’ve built an ark.

I wanted this weekend to be sunshine, flowers, gardening, people filling their trunks with plants and then accidentally spending an hour wandering the market.

But honestly?
If I had the weekend off I’d probably be snuggled up on the couch with my family watching raindrops race down the windows too.

So I needed a way to pull you out of the house…

…and then I remembered:
“I literally own a BBQ truck.” 😎🔥

So today the truck is OPEN and loaded up with warm smoky goodness ready to save your rainy Sunday.

Well… Memorial Day weekend weather totally betrayed us 😂☔

I wanted today to be all sunshine, flowers, gardening, and people loading up their cars with hanging baskets while saying “I’ll only be a minute” and then disappearing around the market for an hour.

But nope.

Rain.
Cold.
More rain.
And apparently summer decided to take another week off.

So this morning I was sitting there thinking:
“How am I supposed to get people out of the house today?”

Then it hit me…

…I make BBQ every day 😎🔥

So that’s the plan.

I cleared off the greenhouse tables as much as I could, fired everything up, and this weekend we’re serving BBQ sandwiches out in The Yard.

And honestly?
BBQ kinda tastes even better when the weather’s like this.

Pulled pork.
Smoked chicken.
Chopped brisket.
Mac & cheese.
Corn pudding.
Hush puppies.
And yep… burnt ends are hanging around too 👀

You know… I could make the usual post today.

“Come get flowers.”
“BBQ is loaded up.”
“Fresh donuts.”
“Plants, pies, sourdough, blah blah blah…” 😂

And yes… all that stuff IS here.

But honestly?

What I really want to say today is this:

Get outside.

Go for a hike.
Go fishing.
Ride your bike.
Walk a Main Street somewhere.
Sit on your porch with a coffee.
Take the long way home.
Visit a farm stand. (I happen to know a pretty good one 😉)

Just enjoy the day.

After the winter we had, we earned this one.

Every warm breeze.
Every bird chirp.
Every little patch of sunshine.
Every moment where you stop and realize… “damn, it actually feels good out again.”

Those moments matter.

So I finally gave in 😂

I did the research, tracked down a company that didn’t charge “mortgage payment” prices, and brought in these awesome spinning hot air balloon porch decorations.

And honestly? They look REALLY cool spinning out front in the breeze.
