LOCAL PRODUCERS HIGHLIGHT!
For years Heritage Meats LLC in Butternut, WI has been providing the Black Cat with pork and maple syrup. We purchase over 900 pounds of pork each year. Most of the pork is in the form of chorizo used in the B.C. Burrito, Spicy Pig Pizza, and as add-on options to our nachos and veggie hash bowl. You will occasionally find Italian sausage and ground pork in soups and specials. Heritage maple syrup is used in espresso drinks.

Travis Pydo is a second generation cattleman who grew up on the farm, helping his parents with their Angus cattle since he was tall enough to push the pedals on the tractor. Over time his parents handed over the reins and the farm became Travis’s primary responsibility. Heritage now owns and leases hundreds of acres of land where they raise approximately 200 head of cattle, 100 pigs, 50 lambs, and hundreds of chickens. All of their livestock are carefully chosen heritage breeds that are raised free of antibiotics and hormones.

In 2014, Heritage Meats was able to purchase a butcher shop from the City of Butternut, allowing them to process the animals they raise. Closing the loop even further, Heritage has expanded to growing all of their own grains for the animal’s feed, allowing them to be 100% independent of outside feed mills.

You can find Heritage’s products at the Chequamegon Food Co-op, as a featured producer in the Bayfield Foods CSA, and at their own meat shop in Butternut. We're so thankful to have an asset like Heritage Meats in our community!

As Travis is wrapping up the last of the corn harvest in the snow. We wanted to say, thank you!

Thank you to our customers. 2025 marks 10 years in business.

Thank you for purchasing our meat. Or entrusting us to process your animal. As a small family farm and meat processor we take pride in providing top quality food. Birthed, grown, and butchered in beautiful Butternut.

Thank you to the land owners who allow us to cultivate their soil. This has eliminated our need for the commercial feed producer. We grow, harvest, chop, grind and feed everything our animals consume.

Thank you to our employees for holding down the shop, while the boss is off tending to equipment. You are the hands that deliver the end product.

Lastly, thank you to our family and friends for all the errands, part runs, deliveries, and meals. The extra set of hands to vaccinate, castrate, and toss a bale or two.

We love what we do, rain or shine, hot or cold. God bless the American farmer.
