“You know that ‘Co-op’ smell? Incense, essential oils, freshly-made food? I want you to take that home with you. And when you do take these scents home, and inevitably think of the Bethesda Co-op, think back to the roaring 90s, the early 2000s. When natural foods/brands weren’t all owned by private equity and publicly-traded conglomerates. Think about those Bethesda Co-op shopping trips, where you found beautiful new products, neighbors and friends. IYKYK. These memories only die if we let them and frankly, there’s too many GREAT TIMES and even GREATER PEOPLE to look back on, to let these last few years skew perception. 🎬 Many of you have been concerned about our situation 🛑

We are sad to share the news that
at the end of May, our beloved Bethesda Coop will be closing its doors. We have been in business for over fifty years - quite an accomplishment for a small neighborhood business up against giants in the industry.

We have stubbornly persisted for years against a field of such long odds that it makes our popularity and longevity all the more astonishing and
something for our decades of staff & volunteers to be proud of.

We have held space for all interested in an alternative way of purchasing and consuming food and sundry goods, in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

We have watched generations of neighborhood kids
hold down their first real jobs. As the Coop winds down its final weeks, we encourage all of you to
come shop with gusto, pick up all your personal favorites, share stories & hugs, and help support us as we bring this iconic store to a close.

So many of you have meant so much to us. We thank you all sincerely for joining us on this epic, once-in-a-lifetime journey.

Okay, the hard-to-say stuff is out of the way 🥲 through May, check back in on us (both online+in person) for updates, big sales, and watch as we add our best Midas-Touch to our nearly 51 year journey. ❤️💕💔
