Tonight weโre tired, dusty and ready for a little rest.
Last week has been a big one. More tomatoes, pickles, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants and watermelons are finally in the ground. We also seeded beans, zucchini, corn, cilantro and our famous zinnias ๐ธ While weโre thankful for our irrigation system, some of our young seedlings are definitely struggling and could use a good soaking from Mother Nature.
From the outside, it looks like everything is growing and moving along perfectly. But we know many of our fellow farmers are feeling what WE ARE FEELING RIGHT NOW! The long hours, the heat, the relentless sunshine, the dry conditions and the constant wondering when the next rain will come can wear even the strongest people down.
Some days it feels like there simply arenโt enough hours, enough energy or enough rain clouds on the horizon.
We are especially thankful for our senior crew. They show up day after day, work long hours in the heat and rarely complain. Their dedication, work ethic and positive attitude help keep this farm moving forward and we are grateful for every one of them.
But we also know this: farming has always required faith. Faith in the seeds we plant, faith in the work we do each day and faith that God will provide in ways we cannot yet see.
To all our fellow farmers, hang in there. Keep planting, keep believing and keep looking toward the horizon.
The rain will come and when it does, every drop will be appreciated. ๐ฑ๐ง๏ธโค๏ธ
