Fruth Farms Southwest was started in 2000 when Caroline Fruth left the corporate world to pursue her passion in farming. To facilitate the jump, Caroline took classes through Texas A&M, focusing on animal husbandry, nutrition, and sustainable farm and ranching practices. She also worked with two East Texas veterinarians, shadowing them and learning how to care for large and small animals. She appr
enticed with a journeyman farrier learning to trim and shoe the hooves of all sorts of animals, gaining vital anatomy knowledge. Caroline did extensive research before choosing the breeds of all of her farm's animals. All the animals are dual purpose and most are old world breeds, which tend to be hardier. Each species play an important role in the synergy of the farm. Fruth Farms Southwest currently has about 100 pasture raised hens milling around, 20+ Nubian/Boer cross goats that are used for both meat and milking to make artisanal soaps. A herd of registered, grass-fed Belted Galloway cattle roam the fields and the farm also has a horse, a pony, two donkeys, numerous dogs and cats, a peacock, and a gaggle of geese! Caroline realized that they would not be able to meet the markets demand for humanely treated, grass fed beef with their herd. A blessing came along in the form of Rockin' E Ranch and Running N Cattle Company. Three like minded ranchers that respect their animals, and want to produce the best tasting beef possible. All of our animals are grass-fed and -finished, antibiotic-, hormone-, and stimulant-free and are never confined! We take great care to make sure that the animals are respected and treated with care from birth through processing.
