in 2020 when we purchased our dream property here in Cottonwood. Our farm name comes from the sweet little owl who was curious to meet the new people and decided to peek into our front window to check us out on our first day here. Our little farm started out with just 6 chickens and we have since grown and diversified our flock and added a herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats along with some pigs and a gu

ardian pup to watch over them all. It took us a couple of years, but we have also finally mastered the art of country gardening and now sell produce as well because we cannot keep up with the abundance of food. All of our produce is grown chemical free. We will update our page as we have products. Thank you for following our little adventure!

We had a first this week! A huge crane dropped by our orchard for an afternoon snack! It was hunting gophers/moles/mice…. and oh my goodness!!!! this guy swallowed a rodent whole!!! So wild to watch! It wasn’t phased by the dogs but Rosie kept a close watch!!! 🩷🐾

First year of figs on these 2 year old figgies!!! It’s amazing these things started out as just a twig!!!!! We are still learning the flow of our orchard and we fed a lot of birds this year with our 1st year of fruit….😩 but I’m onto them now and we are looking forward to next year’s full fruity harvest! 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼

My heart is broken today as we said goodbye to this little guy. 💔 this is the part of farming and raising animals that I am not made for, and don’t talk about much. Losing animals is just never easy. Kune kunes are wonderful animals with larger than life personalities! This guy was such a spunky little trouble maker! Always food seeking, escaping his enclosure to find the dogs food, getting into the chicken coop to eat chicken food, etc.!! We had to alter the entire animal area to keep this busy little guy safely contained and boy did he keep me on my toes! there is a very tangible void that these animals leave behind, whether it’s a piglet leaving to a new farm, or losing one this way. This little guy had a severe testicular hernia that could not be repaired without extensive surgery that came with a high price tag and possible failure. Risk of him living with it was possible intestinal twisting which would be very painful and would kill him. 💔 after some consultation with our vet, we made the decision to process him humanely at 6 months before he had a complication. This one was a tough loss. 💔 He was very loved and his shenanigans around here will be deeply missed 🩵💔
