Today’s sourdough lineup at the Honeybee Hut house 🍯🍞🐝

• sausage, onion & rosemary
• strawberry cream cheese with our creamed strawberry honey
• chocolate chip

Forgot to score the loaves before baking 😅 but adding a little of our raw honey to the dough still made them turn out delicious. Rustic, homemade, and will be enjoyed around our family table tonight ❤️

Florida heat had the girls hanging outside the hive yesterday trying to cool things down 🥵🐝

We adjusted the hive ventilation and helped the cluster back onto the hive by hand. One scoop at a time 😅

Healthy bees work hard to regulate hive temperature, especially during these hot afternoons.

Weekday goodies are still stocked over at Honeysuckle Hideaway in Hilliard! 😊🍯

You can still grab some of our Honeybee Hut honey along with homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, cookies, fresh tomatoes, jams, raw milk, local meats, and more. Trust me… this little stand is dangerous in the best way 😅

Looks like Friday is their big restock day, so definitely keep an eye out for fresh goodies from all the local vendors! 🌻

What’s going on here? 🐝

This is called “bearding” — bees gathering outside the hive to help cool things down during the Florida heat ☀️

During today’s hive check, we also found several hatched queen cells, which may mean this colony recently swarmed or is going through a queen transition 👑

One thing about beekeeping… the bees always keep us learning 😅🐝

Our girl is hard at work 🐝 See those big yellow pollen baskets on her back legs? She’s packing them full of saw palmetto pollen while also bringing in nectar 🌼🍯

A closer look inside the hive 🐝

This frame is full of baby bees at different stages of growth — from tiny newly hatched larvae to capped cells where young bees are developing before they emerge.

After checking on the bee colony, we moved the colony from their small nuc box into a full deep hive box to give them more room to grow 💛

Little beekeeping upgrade today 🐝

As the bee colony gets bigger, they eventually run out of room in the small starter nuc box and the queen has no space to lay eggs. Today we moved their frames into a full-size deep hive box so they have more space to grow, store honey, and raise baby bees.

It’s always exciting to see a healthy hive growing strong this time of year 💛
