Time for Spanish Street Farmacy

After making a big move 13 years ago to embrace a simpler life, we’ve become a family of gardeners and cooks that loves growing, making, enjoying, and sharing good food. So this opportunity to have a farm-to-table restaurant in Cape Girardeau really found us. According to Charlie, it was time.

Spanish Street Farmacy is a connection of the freshness of the farm through the convenience of a restaurant to our dining guests. We’re passionate about local foods because we are local growers and are immersed and engaged in the struggle for farm survival. As we grow, we want more local growers to get in on our connection too.

The current global food system is in a mess. So, we’re looking to a simpler time when real food took a more important, yet unrecognized, role in the health of our country.

In the early 1900s, drugstores became an American mainstay. The soda fountain appeared as drugstores looked to combine their medicines (i.e. herbal, cod liver oil, quinine) with tasty drinks, so folks could get the medicine down. These sodas were made with fruit juices, essential oils, extracts, and various herbs originally. Sodas entered the century as a means of delivering health-giving agents through the medium of a sweetened delicious drink.
