Wooden Nickel local non-profits you can support in-store this quarter beginning July 1st - the second is Keep Carbondale Beautiful!

Keep Carbondale Beautiful initiates, plans, and directs cooperative efforts in litter control, recycling, community beautification, and environmental education.

They are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been serving the Southern Illinois community since 1987 (initially as "Carbondale Clean & Green") and an affiliate of Keep Illinois Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful.

Shoppers receive a Wooden Nickel for every bag-able purchase when they bring their own bag. They can then donate that Wooden Nickel to one of two nonprofits. These nonprofits are chosen quarterly from suggestions made by staff, customers, owners, and community members.

🐐🤍 STILL FEELING GRATEFUL THIS MORNING 🤍🐐

Yesterday was such a busy day that I never even got the chance to sit down and post this — and honestly, I barely remembered to take pictures! 😂

But this morning, looking out at these guys, I keep thinking about how grateful I am for everyone who came out and made Meadows Bluff Farm one of your stops during the 2026 Farm Crawl. ❤️

Thank you for walking around our farm, meeting the goats, asking questions, shopping our handcrafted products, and taking an interest in what we do here.

Most of you usually see the finished products at markets or online, so welcoming you onto the farm and showing you a little of what happens behind those products was incredibly special to me.

A HUGE thank you to the Farm Crawl organizers for all of the planning, promotion, and hard work that went into making this event happen, and for giving local farms like ours an opportunity to open our gates and share what we do with our community. 🌿🚜 Food Works of Southern Illinois & Neighborhood Co-op Grocery

Tonight we are having Highland burger pizzas on flatbread with “The Gambler” seasoning 😋
