Market day is tomorrow Saturday May 23rd! At the market you can enjoy live music by RuthAnn and LizzieJane while you shop and visit with our community groups Confluence Books and Wright Way Rescue. We hope you can come out and support our local farmers, makers, music, and community group from 8am till noon at 2015 West Main Street.

There will be produce, honey, micro greens, plant starts, mushrooms, dairy (milk and yogurt), meats (beef, bison, chicken, pork, turkey), Eggs (chicken & duck), seafood (cod, halibut, salmon, etc), coffee (to drink at market or bags of beans to brew at home), baked goods (breads, cookies, donuts, pies, turnovers, etc.), syrups, pickled items, drinking vinegars and shrubs, native plants, potted plants and hanging baskets, trees, cut flowers and bouquets, hot sauces and hot honey, locally created spices, jewelry for all ages, soaps, lotions, artwork (decretive tiles, coasters, glass yard ornaments, etc.), crocheted items, glass bird feeders, and more!

Collaborations are one of our favorite things to do, especially when they are with a very special person. IF you have not eaten Sweet Potatoes from 👨🏼‍🌾Millers Tater Farm The Farmers Market of Carbondale then you have no idea what you’re missing! 🍠 These are so incredibly sweet I eat them like an apple with nothing on them.
We have 2 weeks of specials with these amazing breeds. Tomorrow we are serving up our coffee with an optional “Sweet Potato” Cold Foam, paired w Brown Sugar & Cinnamon!

✨ ILFMA Appoints Libby Ervin as New Executive Director ✨

🥒 Experienced leader in farmers markets, small farms and local food to guide ILFMA into its next chapter

🍅 As ILFMA Board President since 2023, Ervin has worked closely with the board on strategic planning, expanding membership, navigating budget challenges, and strengthening partnerships with state agencies and funders. These experiences have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of ILFMA’s operations, finances, and statewide landscape, as well as the relationships and credibility needed to advance the organization’s priorities at the local, regional, and state levels.

🥖 Ervin brings eight years of professional experience in nonprofit management, food systems, agriculture, and community development. Libby and her husband Derek are farmers and run Glaciers End, a specialty food store in downtown Marion, IL. She has vended at several farmers markets across the state, has served as a Farmers Market Manager, and currently manages the Southern Illinois Link Hub under Food Works, where she supports 11 Southern Illinois farmers markets.

🥦 “I am deeply passionate about the role farmers markets play in Illinois communities — as vital economic engines for small and mid‑scale farmers, and as essential access points for fresh, locally grown food for all residents,” Ervin said. “I have seen firsthand how ILFMA’s work helps strengthen the food system, and I am committed to building the organizational capacity, partnerships, and resources needed to amplify that impact.”

🫜 The ILFMA Board expressed strong confidence in Ervin’s leadership. “Libby’s organizational knowledge, relationships, and commitment to ILFMA’s mission make her an exceptional leader for this next chapter.”

🫶 The Board also extends its sincere gratitude to Janie Maxwell for her service as Executive Director. Maxwell’s leadership has strengthened the organization and laid a strong foundation for the years ahead.

My Saved Objects will be out tomorrow!

Congratulations SIU Graduates! Welcome family and friends to celebrate with the students. This weekend enjoy time together and stop at The Farmer's Market of Carbondale. We are open from 8:00-12:00. You will find a variety of vendors with both healthy foods and artisan crafts. Saved Objects Soaps and Lotions will be the 4th booth on the left entering from the Ace Hardware parking lot. We have soap with natural herbs and plants for color. # vegansoap
