Same harvest. Pick your format. 🌱

This year’s Tropical Desert Piura harvest has quickly become one of José’s favorites, so naturally… one format wasn’t enough.

Whether you like taking your time with a block, making a whole lot of cacao drinks, or need a bigger format for food service, there’s now a Tropical Desert option for your kind of ritual.

Different formats. Same incredible Piura harvest.

Healthy breakfast doesn’t have to mean boring breakfast.

A little fruit, something sweet, and cacao nibs for that chocolatey crunch can completely change an everyday yogurt bowl. 🍓🍫
And when those nibs start with high-quality cacao, carefully sourced from the communities behind it, even the simplest things taste a little more special.

Consider this your permission to have more fun with breakfast.

Spend enough time at a farmers market and you’ll hear everything. 😂

Some questions make us laugh, some surprise us, and some remind us just how much there is to learn about cacao.
Keep them coming. José is ready. 🍫

How direct trade looks like?

Every few weeks he calls Jose. He is the Awajún leader of a community in the Peruvian Amazon. Jose trained him in fermenting and drying cacao - now they check on the farmers together.

Today’s question: how does the next season look like?

Direct trade is very complex, after about 10 years of working together they are friends and they enjoy working together, talking often and always closing the call saying hi to the family.

Communication will always be a challenge because they live in a very remote area, 8 hours of hiking to get there. So we just have to wait until we get another call, when he can grab wifi or signal. It takes back to when you had to use pen and paper to send a message through a letter and just wait to hear back. Lol.

We love this relationship because we know the community, we are friends and know that paying fair prices and a premium impact their lives on a very positive way.

What if you didn’t have to choose between coffee and cacao? ☕🍫

I stopped thinking about cacao as a replacement and started using it as an upgrade to a morning routine I already love.
A couple of cacao coins, my usual coffee, and suddenly both get to exist in the same cup.

Coffee lovers, this one’s worth trying.

When it comes to cacao, consistency isn’t always a green flag. 🚩

Different origins, harvests, fermentation and growing conditions can all influence flavor. So we don’t expect every harvest to taste exactly like the one before it.
We celebrate those differences. In fact, you’ll find the origin and harvest year right on our packaging.

Because cacao should have character. 🍫

And a special thank you to Dustin Poynter for providing the internet with the perfect flag moments. 🚩💚

You never really know what something will become when you first start.

You just make the first batch, pack the first orders, meet the right people, make a few mistakes, learn a lot… and keep going.

Somewhere along the way, a home kitchen became a warehouse, a few products became a whole cacao lineup, and an idea for a storefront became a real place we get to walk into every day.

A lot has changed. The curiosity behind it hasn’t.
