The ladies are working overtime. We have plenty of eggs available.

I haven't updated on the chickens lately and the laycation they have slipped into as Virginia weather is being volatile. Think abouy it as it's cold then warm then cold then warm and they are just confused. So in an effort to balance diet and conditions we are offering the girls fresh grown Fodder. What is fodder you ask?

It is a fresh young growth of grains offering greens and protein and nutrients that are in the root base of the plants. We are growing wheat Fodder in the house and throwing it to the girls to supplement the ladies diets of a 17% protein pellet with calcium.

Good news it's working we have begun getting a few eggs. See the photos of the fodder and the ladies enjoying the treat.

Great news! Lila had 14 kits today! Can't wait to see the color combos here as the Daddy is an all black New Zealand. From the looks of the skin there may be some solid black babies and some 2 toned babies.

This is so cool. Watch close you can see the belly move and jump as the babies kick. Lila is due tomorrow and started building her nest today. She hasn't pulled fur yet which is the signal that it is close. This will be her 2nd litter.

Had a litter kindle today. As cool as it is to have new babies in the rabbitry there is a sad part to this story as you will see in this video. A journey to save a baby begins.**** Sadly this little one would not overcome the cold.

New waste disposal system is in !!!!

So the ladies have started molting.....😱. This means egg production is down. To ensure all of our fans are getting a chance at those yummy eggs. We will have to limit quantities until the ladies are back to normal production levels.

We are increasing protein intake during this time to help them through this stressful time.

Once everyone is back to normal and looking fluffy again, we will be able to resume normal egg availability.

Well this happened.... We rescued a few chickens and discovered today they had never been outside. Today we are teaching them what sunshine feels like. This guy just wants to go back in.
