Do you know of anyone so stubborn that they do things they KNOW they shouldn’t be doing? Someone that “knows better” than their doctors, their children and loved ones? Someone that clearly knows the repercussions of their actions because they keep doing the same stupid thing over and over again with the same results each time?
Well, now you do! It’s me!!! Yesterday, I guess I thought I was in my 20’s again and slung around 40lb boxes of fall squashes, apples, and peaches like I still had real estrogen and testosterone coursing through my system. The problem (and the stubborn part) was that in doing so I knew (I mean really KNEW) what the outcome could be and I was right! I can barely move today! (Happens every time)
I legitimately have a screwed up back from years of not taking proper care of myself and doing a whole lot of things I should not be doing. I have 2 discs in the C region and 2 discs in the L region that won’t get better. I’ve been good lately and thought one day of heaving lifting wouldn’t bother me. Boy was I ever wrong!!!
I managed to secure a PT appointment to get some of this worked out later this morning and should be at the market by 1:00. I apologize for any inconvenience.
All baked goods orders for today were made yesterday and will be available for pick up after 1:00. Again, I am so sorry. Getting old SUCKS!
Thanks for following along with Karen on the farm 💋♥️

👀👀ATTENTION!!👀👀
I will be CLOSED today. I apologize for the short notice.
In Raleigh, picking up produce and am stuck waiting on the tomato truck delivery (it’s promised to be here in an hour). Then I have to wait on said truck to be unloaded and patiently wait my turn to be loaded.
I have been humbly reminded that the world doesn’t revolve around me and my schedule today🤣. So I’m going to enjoy a late breakfast and scope out the shops. Might as well make the best of a situation that’s out of my 🙌.
Come see me tomorrow and yall stay cool today!!

Tell Me Something Good

Do any of you (not just widows) get so bogged down in grief, loneliness, and stress of keeping up the day to day that it becomes hard to find the joy in things? I’m not going to lie-I DO!!! But what I figured out was I need to think of the good things happening NOW-not what I forgot to do yesterday-not what I lost a year ago-just even the smallest of things helps pull me out of the “funk” for a little bit. I’m hoping those little bits gets strung into one long span of happiness.

So Tell Me Something Good, Folks! (If you want to bitch about something, there’s a whole Moore county page dedicated to doing just that. By the way, if you haven’t checked it out-you should! There are tons of miserable snarky people on it complaining about every little thing you could possibly imagine). I want y’all to tell me something GOOD! Something you saw, something that happened to you, something that you heard, something that you did-just anything that put a smile on your face or made you feel just a little better.

I’ll get us started and no you don’t have to be as wordy as I am 😜.

My 6 yr old grand son has started playing flag football and loves it! When I told him I had heard he got 3 touchdowns at his last practice and was proud of him, his reaction just made my day. It was a little smirk, not quite a smile, with a shoulder shrug and head tilt that said, ‘it’s no big deal’ like he does that everyday. Where did all that cockiness come from at just 6 yrs old?? I hope he never loses that “I can do anything” feeling. And I LOVE that it is a cold weather sport!!

My youngest niece made it to her ‘early’ morning (9:00 am) class at Sandhills this week. She has been a night owl since birth and mornings are definitely not her part of her clock. So when she went flying down the driveway at 8:45-I just smiled that she was going to be on time. (I didn’t even text her to slow down lol). And she did it twice last week!! I am so proud of her and the responsible young woman she is becoming. (I’ll text her to slow down next week)

My oldest grandson added to the list of things I make the best. So far it’s pancakes, cheddar biscuits, salsa and, now, toast points. That last one, I’m chalking up to him just being a 14 year old boy who is hungry all of the time. But he thinks I make the BEST ones and that makes me smile. Will he tell his kids one day about all the goodies I made for him?

I got to spend the better part of a day taking my parents to Raleigh. I enjoyed every minute of it-even when daddy got a little pissy (Raleigh can do that to people 😆). And to make the day even better I went from Costco in Garner to the State Farmer’s Market and only got stopped by ONE STOPLIGHT!!! Now that was a happy coincidence! 🥳

I don’t know how to tell anyone to see the good in things when you get so bogged down. It takes just as much of my energy to see the good as it does the bad right now. I’m hoping if I continue using my energy for finding the good that someday it will come naturally and that’s all I will see. Who wants to try it with me? It can’t hurt. Right?

I’d love to read good moments from your lives. Maybe, it will help me and you to see all the ways and places we can find the good again. It doesn’t have to be anything big or elaborate. Something as simple as, I made it a whole week without anything tearing up in the house can be your good thing. Just find one positive thing and share it. Hopefully, it will make you feel a little better and you will want more of that. I know I do!!!!

Thanks for following along with Karen on the farm💋♥️
