Travel Oregon has officially launched its updated “Experience Indigenous Oregon” travel guide, inviting visitors to explore the rich cultural, historical, and spiritual heritage of the state’s nine federally recognized tribes. This new edition, created in partnership with the tribes, aims to promote respectful tourism and provide visitors with authentic insights into the Indigenous communities that have lived on these lands for thousands of years.
The guide includes new content focused on Indigenous experiences, cultural events, and historical landmarks, highlighting places that tell the story of Oregon’s first peoples. Visitors can now explore Indigenous-led initiatives, including tribal museums, cultural centers, and outdoor adventures, all while respecting the traditions and values of Oregon’s Indigenous tribes.
Bobbie Conner, the director of the Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, said, “This new guide helps us celebrate Indigenous resilience while offering travelers a way to experience our stories through our lens, not just as tourists, but as respectful visitors.”
