Afternoon, update time! (10-17-25)

Season ending
Just a reminder, our last day for the season will be Saturday, October 25th.

Now is the time to stock up on cider and your favorite apples. We have a decent supply of all our in-store apples, but there is a chance we could run out of some varieties (like Honeycrisp and Harrelson) before the end of the season. We have also made our last batch of cider for the year. We don't sell it anywhere else, so make sure to stock up on it while you can!

Apples
In store: Honeycrisp, Cortland, McIntosh, Ambrosia, Crimson Crisp, Jonagold, Empire, Macoun, Jonathan, Harrelson, Golden and Red Delicious, Gala, and Pink Lady

Pick-your-own: Cortland, McIntosh, Jonagold, Jonathan, Harrelson, Macoun, Pink Lady, Empire

For those looking to pick their own, we do have pockets of good pick-your-own still available. Most of the trees visible from the roads look picked over, but if you move to the middle or back of the rows, it will be better. We also recommend asking the staff before you venture out, as we can direct you where the better picking is.

Deer apples
Starting Monday, we will be opening the entire orchard for pick-your-own Deer apples. $2.50 for a 5-gallon pail or $5 for a red onion bag ($0.50 if you need to buy the bag).
Just to clarify, pick-your-own deer apples MUST BE PICKED OFF THE GROUND. Apples picked off the trees will be charged at the pick-your-own price.
We will not have much, if any, pre-bagged Deer apples.

Pumpkins
We have plenty of pre-picked orange pumpkins and 2 bins of white pumpkins available. There are still LOTS of pumpkins available in the patch. Come get your pumpkins before Halloween! πŸŽƒ

🍎 Thanks and have a great weekend. 🍎

Good Friday morning! (10/10/25)
The end of the season is almost here.

Apples
In store: McIntosh, Cortland, Honeycrisp, Crimson Crisp, Ambrosia, Jonagold, Empire, Russet, Jonathan, Harrelson, Red and Yellow Delicious, Russet, Gala, and Flemish Beauty Pear

Pick-your-own: Cortland, McIntosh, Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious, Jonagold, Jonathan, Harrelson, Empire, and Pink Lady

There are still pockets of great picking for Cortland and McIntosh, especially on the southern end (away from the highway). There is also good pick-your-own on varieties like Macoun, Empire, Jonathan, and Jonagold. Ask the staff and tractor drivers where to go; we'll happily point you in the right direction!

πŸŽƒ Pumpkins! πŸŽƒ
Pick your own pumpkins (from the patch) β€” 5 for $20 or $0.20 per pound! Our fields are overflowing with beautiful pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, many with solid green stems and lots weighing over 40 pounds. This is the perfect weekend to grab your pumpkins before the Halloween rush!
We also have a great selection of pre-picked orange and specialty pumpkins, plus a variety of small and large gourds to complete your fall dΓ©cor. Come on out and make it a day at the patch!

Deer Apples
We have marked several rows with yellow ribbon for pick-your-own Deer apples. $2.50 per 5-gallon pail or $5 per onion sack ($0.50 if you need to buy the bag).
At this time, we do not plan on having many pre-bagged Deer apples.

End of season
The official last day of apple season 2025 will be Saturday, October 25th.
Just as a reminder, we do not sell our apples and apple cider anywhere else. If you like to have cider (especially late winter), put some in the freezer. As long as it is frozen, it will keep.
We also have lots of late-season apple varieties that will keep in cold storage for some time. Now is a good time to stock up while they are fresh.

Hope to see you soon and have a great day! πŸŽπŸπŸŽƒ

Good morning! The weather is looking good for some apple picking! (10/3/2025)

Apples:
In store we have Honeycrisp, Cortland, McIntosh, Gala, Flemish Beauty Pears, Empire, Crimson Crisp, and a limited supply of Ambrosia.

For pick-your-own, we have McIntosh, Cortland, Macoun, Harrelson, and Honeycrisp. Please keep Honeycrisp separate when picking, as they are $1.50 per pound, and all other pick-your-own is $1.10 per pound.

The apples may seem picked over, but I promise, there are plenty to pick. If you are picking off the southern end of the orchard (opposite of the highway), you should find plenty of apples. There are plenty of PYO Honeycrisp at the moment; however, we are anticipating a busy weekend and will not be sure of how many will be left after the weekend.

Harvest Festival
This Saturday is the big harvest festival! This year's events will include:
Balloon tying, Kids Games, and Alpacas (provided by Alpaca to Apparel).
The store will be open from 8 AM to 6 PM, but the festival will run from 10 AM to 5 PM. Hope to see you there (rain or shine).

Pumpkins
This will be a great weekend to come get all your pumpkins! Pick-your-own pumpkins will be $.20 cents per pound OR 5 for $20.
Pre-picked pumpkins are $.25 cents per pound OR 5 for $27.50.
We also have a great selection of small specialty pumpkins and large gourds (3 for $10) and large specialty pumpkins ($.25 cents per LB).

Mums
If you are looking for a great deal on mums or have some open spots in the garden yet, stop on by! We just got a shipment of some beautiful mums (in 9-inch pots), and we are selling them for $5 each while they last!

P.S.
We are expecting a high volume of traffic, especially early in the day. Please be careful and be mindful of the traffic around the highway. There will be lots of parking at the orchard and across the street.

Be safe and have a great weekend πŸŽπŸ‚

Apples
If you are planning an apple picking outing, we reccomend waiting a week or 2. Apple season is off to a slow start this year and as of right now, the pick your own crop is not at its best. If you wait 2 weeks, your pick your own experience will be much better.

Apples available in store are Premier Honeycrisp, Zestar, and Paula Red

Pick-your-own availability is limited to Zestar and Paula Red. You are also welcome to pick McIntosh ONLY if you like them really sour.
McIntosh and Cortland should be ready in about 2 weeks. Honeycrisp are about 2 to 3 weeks from being ready.
We should have pears in about 1 to 2 weeks

Mums
We have plenty of mums left but they are going fast! At this time there are about 5,500 to 6,000 left

Carmel apples and cider
The first batch of Carmel apples for the year is beeing wrapped as I write this! Come get them while their fresh

We are planning on pressing the first batch of cider next week. With the initial lack of apples, its taking us a bit longer to get the required amount of apples to run the press. We expect to have cider on the shelves by Thursday evening or Friday morning.

Pumpkins
Lots of pumpkins and gourds are ready for you front door or yard. We have plenty of Orange and a limited selection of white pumpkins. We also have a few bins of small and large gourds to pick from.

Have a great weekend!

Mums:
Now is the perfect time to stop out and pick up some flowers! 50% of the mums have flowers or lots of buds and will be showing color in the next few weeks. Selection at this time is great

Postcards:
The mailer has been sent out and should be at your mailbox within the next 2 weeks.

Apple cider and Carmel apples:
We are waiting to get a decent crop of Paula reds before we start the Carmel apples. We require a variety of apples and a larger quantity of apples before we can start the cider press.

Good Morning! (8/11/25)

We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. Fall is right around the corner, and we'd like to give you a little update on what to expect from apple season 2025.

Apples:
The apples are looking good this year; however, we are light on some varieties. It was colder than usual this year during the bloom. As a result, the pollinators were still waking up during the bloom, and some varieties didn't get as pollinated as much as others. Some varieties like Paula Red and Gingergold will be in shorter supply this year. Other varieties like Honeycrisp seem to have been unaffected. We won't know the amount until we start picking.

Please keep an eye on our page and website for up-to-date information on what we have currently available and in supply.

Mums:
About 8,200 to 8,500 small pots (9") and 500 large pots (14") are available. All colors from last year and a few new colors are ready for your garden or front porch! Some varieties are just starting to show color, while many others have buds forming and will be coloring in a few weeks.

Business hours:
We will be opening starting today with limited hours:

Monday ~ Friday 10 AM to 4 PM

We will be selling the mums, and we have a limited supply of early-season apples available (Transparent).

Website
Check out our newly designed website. It was redesigned from scratch, so some information and pictures may be missing.

Pumpkins and other fall decor
Everything else about the crop this year is looking great! Our pumpkins and squash have been loving the weather here at the end of summer and are looking great for the upcoming season.

Special update (10/21/24)

Store closing October 27th
We regret to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to move the closing date of our store to October 27th. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to those who had planned to visit us on a later date. After assessing the remaining apples and our projected needs for the rest of the season, we felt that we couldn't keep the store open past the 27th

We appreciate your understanding and hope to see you next year!

Apples:
Please go to our website for a complete list of available Apples (www.hillsideapples.com)
Pick-your-own at this point in the season is pretty much done. There are plenty of golden and red delicious available. If you look enough, you can find some Jonagold or Cortland. Most everything else is picked over or gone. We will have plenty of apples available in store for the rest of the season.

Pumpkins
We still have plenty of great carving pumpkin available out in the patch and for pick-your-own. There are also plenty of specialty pumpkins and gourds for last minute decorating πŸŽƒ

Deer apples
Pick your own deer apples are now available throughout the entire orchard, no more marked rows.

Apple cider
Our last pressing will be Wednesday or Thursday, so we plan to have plenty of fresh cider for you to stock up on for winter πŸŽ„

Have a great rest of the week and if we don't see you again this year, have a great rest of the year and we hope to see you again for next year!
