ANOTHER DAY ON EARTH BEGINS
At 6:00 am today
All the birds arise with purpose
Each is on its plan
The mix of songs and chatter
Inviting me along
But first I sit and absorb the scene
As the sun begins to lite
Upon the tips of distant trees
Where the black crow flies alone
Way off in the distance
Half the cattle sleep
And others are on grass
Some chickens crowd the fence line
[They know how they are fed]
Yet others search and find
And just like that
The sun is gone
I better go inside
