We have been busy on the farm this Spring. 🥰

Last year we took a break and chose not to milk or add to our homestead due to a surgery and recovery. We were so excited to be back in the swing of things this year. But life had other plans and another surgery and recovery was on the table. We bred two of our does (prior to knowing surgery was needed) and unfortunately, had a devastating kidding season. Our first doe lost all of her kids. We are beyond devastated and are still at a loss for words. I questioned whether I wanted to continue on our homestead journey, and frankly, questioned our abilities. Our second doe had twin bucklings and they are beautiful, energetic and thriving. It is bitter sweet to see them jumping around and full of life. 💔 Our hearts were broken this past year with loss. You always see the 'good' side of homesteading and the cute videos, but in reality, homesteading is hard, emotional and draining, but so rewarding at the same time. I delayed posting our kids this season as we needed time to process our loss. We love our little homestead, even on the hardest days. ❤️
