It’s not cruelty — it’s nature’s timing.
In October, mother deer push their fawns away to prepare for the next breeding season.

I’m about six months old now. I don’t know how to cross roads or survive on my own yet.
When I see headlights, I freeze. I keep trying to find my mother — but she’s gone.

That’s why so many of us end up on roads this month.
We’re confused, panicked, and just looking for home.

If you’re driving at dawn or dusk, please slow down.
You might save a young life still learning how to live. 🦌💔

Unfortunately, we have encountered customers who are unclear about our expectations for properly field dressing deer.

Removing the genitals is part of the field dressing process and typically involves cutting around the anus and genitals to free the internal reproductive organs and urinary tract.

The specific steps vary slightly between bucks and does.
Removing genitals from a buck:

Make the initial cuts: Cut the skin holding the pen*s and scrotum to the body. Some hunters remove the testicles and pen*s first to create a clean starting point for the main abdominal incision.

Prepare the anus: Carefully cut a circle around the anus to free the rectum from the pelvis. To prevent contamination, you can tie it off with a string or zip tie.
Pull organs through: During the removal of the guts, the pen*s, urethra, and rectum will be pulled through the pelvic cavity and out with the rest of the entrails.

Removing genitals from a doe:
Create the initial cut: Make an oval-shaped cut that circles the anus and the vaginal opening. For a lactating doe, be careful not to cut into the udder, as the milk can spoil the meat.
Tie off the rectum: Cut deeply around the anus to free it from the pelvis, and tie off the end to prevent feces from contaminating the meat.

Pull out all the organs: As you remove the rest of the internal organs, which include the heart, the rectum, reproductive tract, and bladder, they will pull through the pelvic opening.

Thank you,
Bentley's
