An oldie but goodie!

This weekend I was talking cons of Nubians. There aren’t many on my list. One is they are loud mouths! It doesn’t bother us. There are a lot of ā€œhuman kid or goat?ā€ questions. Having two toddlers we hear a lot of phantom cries.

Can you spot that baby Winn frolicking through the pasture?!

Can you tell who the problem child is?

We all know and love Tiny. She hates us all. She’s had a lot of change over the year and she’s not a fan. She doesn’t like new gals. She doesn’t like rotating pastures. She doesn’t like new feed or change in routine.

I mean I can’t blame her sometimes. We like what we like. Just remember that growth requires change and if you aren’t growing, you’re dying.

Happy Processing Day!

Mark your calendars! šŸ“† we’ll have our last batch of pasture raised chicken for the calendar year back in the freezer this weekend.

32 birds made it to processing day. We did have a few more losses than our typical run. We humanely euthanized a chick with a deformed leg. It could not walk. We lost two to the insane heat a few weeks back. I hate having birds on pasture during the summer. It’s hard on them! Given the circumstances I still feel good about the batch.

Another successful 8 weeks! I’m excited to see what our average weight is. We had some fatties this round!

What do ya think new layer or printing error?

Possible suspect #1 Production Red layer who is 2.5 year old. Never laid a fairy egg, never had specked eggs.

Possible suspect #2 Possible Wesummer/SFH cross who is 12-14 weeks old, TOPS!

I’m leaning toward suspect 1… my welsummers have usually been late layers. This layer would have beat all my 16 week old SFH pullets too. It just seems too unlikely and too soon.

Each month I set a little goal. Crushed it again! My goal was to get to 900 followers for July.

We’re in the K’s now!!

To all my new friends, welcome! So glad you’re here. Don’t forget to show the goofy goats and crazy chickens some love every once in a while. ā¤ļø it helps more people find us. We all need some goats and chickens on our feeds to brighten our day.

Happy Morning! Make today beautiful and great ā¤ļø

And just a reminder, Evie, you are good enough giving 4 oz of milk despite trying to dry you up multiple times. 🤪 you’re not a quitter, that’s for sure.

I need help from a local crafter to help me make a smaller version of this- similar colors and pattern just shorter and smaller clips.

I need no later than end of August, but sooner would be great!

The goats have been stealing the show lately.

My gals are still around. I have a lot of keeper cockerels to go through soon. They got a treat from all the bone broth I’ve been cooking up lately.

Did ya know chickens are omnivores?! I always joke that if I tripped and broke my leg they’d probably eat me too.

You say I left the gate open. Maybe I’m just training them young…
