From February to May, I have dozens of folks messaging me about a plant they've tried to germinate and nothing grew, or a plant they've tried to pamper but it died anyway. They ask, what do you think I keep doing wrong? Why do I have so much trouble growing this one plant? Everything else seems happy!
Let me share a well kept secret, sweet friends, that will make your gardening adventures so much more fun and fulfilling:
β¨It's okay to not be good at growing everything!!β¨
I am not good at growing everything. You may say I have a green thumb, but you might reconsider if you saw the sheer number of seeds I've failed to germinate and plants I've accidentally killed. Thousands!
It's taken me a decade of gardening to realize and come to peace with the fact I am not good at growing everything. That's okay-- someone else on this planet is good at growing that thing! Find them and support them! Double down on your talents and the plants that come naturally to you! I promise your growing season will feel so much less stressful and so much more magical.
This message is brought to you by me, who struggles to germinate even 10 Lady's Mantle plants a season. She's so fussy for me. Instead, I found Summersfield Farm, who grows the nicest Lady's Mantle plants I've ever seen in person. Keep her in mind if you're looking for herbs you can't find in my nursery or grow for yourself! She's a lovely plant person! π
