Calling all women in New Mexico agriculture: National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is building a national spotlight on women farmers, and we want New Mexico represented. Share your story by completing NASDA’s Women in Agriculture survey and help ensure voices from all 50 states are included. REMINDER: The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) is accepting online grant applications for its Healthy Soil Program starting TODAY, through noon Friday, March 20, Mountain Time.

NMDA will host two webinars on Jan. 27 – one for Eligible Entities and one for Individual Applicants – focused on completing the online Healthy Soil Program grant application. Registration is required.

🚜 Update from the fields on our sheep wool experiment! The garlic is growing well and the wool-mulch proves to be a strong shield during the winter months. Compared to straw, it is holding the moisture just as well and is keeping the cranes away. The biggest hurdle: the wind. The wool is more likely to drift with winter gusts. 💨🐑🧄
