NEW SUPPORT: Charleston R-I Schools are happy to welcome Angie Kimble and Jodie Marcum, our new SparkWheel Student Support Coordinators, who are now onboard and working with students!
Angie Kimble serves as the SparkWheel Student Support Coordinator for Pre-K through 6th grade. She is a Charleston native, a CHS Class of 2004 alumnus, and proud mother of three. Angie says her kids motivate her and are the reason she's "so passionate about helping young people succeed."
Jodie Marcum serves as the SparkWheel Student Support Coordinator for 7th through 12th grades. She is a 2011 graduate of East Prairie High School, proud mom to a 1-year-old, and has most recently worked for 6 years at the Mississippi County Health Department. Jodie and her young family have strong roots right here in Charleston, where she looks to help students and families succeed.
Angie and Jodie are working alongside school administrators, teachers, caregivers, and counselors to give our students the best chance possible at success. Here is some information they provided about their goals:
What does a Student Support Coordinator do?
We work alongside teachers and caregivers to help students develop socially and emotionally, and to help remove any barriers they have with learning or attending school. Examples of what we can provide are:
- Small group lessons on social skills, managing strong feelings, study skills, etc.
- One-on-one support for students
- Improving caregiver/student communication
- Holiday assistance
- Helping your student be on time to school every day
- Discussing concerns about your student’s academic achievement
- Community resource referrals
- Assistance with food, clothing, school supplies, etc.
- And, much more!
How does a student receive SparkWheel support?
- Caregiver referral
- Self referral
- Peer referral
- Administrator, teacher, or other school staff referral

Once a student is received, a signed parent/guardian consent must be obtained. After receiving a signed consent form, the student can begin receiving our support. Students cannot receive individual or small-group support without a signed consent form.
