Happy Sunday, everyone!
We’ve gotten some inquiries about the upcoming Winter Blues Farmer’s Market event in Charleston later this month.
We have decided not to participate in WBFM this year.
This has historically been a major event for us, where we have enjoyed connecting with longtime customers and supporters of our company, as well as connecting with new customers.
Our decision was based on multiple factors. First, one of our most popular products is our Wild Blackberry Jam. The “wild” part of that comes from literal wild sourcing from woods in Jackson County. Unfortunately, as anyone tuned into agriculture is aware, the 2025 drought- driven by ongoing changes in the climate globally- was especially stressful for berry crops. As part of our commitment to the most wholesome ingredients in our jams, we rely on what the forest produces. This year, we had neither the quantity nor the quality of berries to produce at a sufficient level to sell at Winter Blues.
Another factor was that, in light of needing to source wild blueberries from other locations, and to keep that sourcing here in The Mountain State, the time commitment exceeded what we had to give. Between increasingly busy kids’ schedules, and unendingly busy work schedules, re-sourcing our wild berry pipeline proved extremely challenging.
We look forward to rejoining our small business colleagues and our many supporters next year, as we look ahead to growing in 2026 and beyond!
