Our winter squash and mini pumpkins are on the wagon! Below is information on what is available today, October 19th. Visit us anytime between dawn and dusk on the corner of M50 and Wheaton Rd, north of downtown Charlotte.
Spaghetti Squash: This has a mild, sweet flavor. We grew some monsters this year. Some are not fully ripe, but if you have a warm, sunny spot in your house, these will continue to ripen and can then be stored for later use!
Butternut Squash: This squash has a nutty flavor. It is a popular one here and is always first to disappear from the wagon.
Honeynut Squash: The mini version of butternut, but sweeter and is perfect for personal size dishes! You will see some green ones on the wagon, but don't let that fool you. These will continue to ripen!
Delicata Squash: With a sweet, nutty flavor and a delicate skin that can be eaten, these are perfect for those that don't want the extra hassle of removing squash skin before eating!
Sweet Dumpling Squash: These are sweeter than acorn squash and similar in size.
Acorn Squash: Another winter squash staple here. The variety we grew this year are the largest acorn squash I have ever seen and will be in our garden for years to come!
Gill's Golden Pippen Squash: Sweeter and richer tasting than standard green acorn.
Carnival Squash: This is a cross between sweet dumpling and acorn squash. It has the sweet flavors like a sweet dumpling and the size of large acorn squash; the best of both. And it is just so darn pretty!
Sugar Pie Pumpkins: Small pumpkins that are sweeter, less watery and less stringy than their larger field counterparts. I say it every year, but if you have not roasted and made your own pumpkin puree for recipes, you are missing out!
Mini Pumpkins: We have Wee Be Litte and Jack Be Little mini pumpkins, because who doesn't love mini pumpkins to decorate with!
