Beau is our Employee of the Month!

He is a Black Australorp Rooster, he does a wonderful job being the Senior Flock Manager and keeping peace on the farm. He had a rough winter with the temps below zero, but he managed to pull through and help with his superior instincts and skill... and he's a real charmer with the ladies!

We also raise meat chickens in the warm season. This is the breast meat prepared for chicken fingers from only one chicken! He was 9.5 #, dressed.

It pays to be a c**k!

Roosters are not the enemy. They protect those under their care. They will sacrifice themselves to save the flock. He doesn’t back down, not one step, even if it cost his life. He has a family to protect and he’ll sacrifice everything for them. It’s the embodiment of “My life before theirs” ❤️🧑‍🌾

This remarkable photo was made by Shasta Schlitt - BYC (BackYardChickens) of her rooster, Jay, defending a hen against an unlucky hawk. Unfortunately, the hawk didn't survive the attack. Jay had some puncture wounds but is OK.

It's springtime (far as the animals are concerned), and we now have available! Since they only lay part-time and spring-early summer, they are rarer than chicken eggs, so yes, they are more expensive. However, they are an extra-jumbo size, weighing in at an avg of 3 ozs! They can be eaten as normal or used in baking for fluffier baked goods! We've also used them as an egg wash for chicken nuggets, making the end result irresitable!

HERITAGE BREED TURKEYS FOR SALE!!

Spring is in the aire... well, almost. And the turkeys are feeling amourous. We'd like to remind everyone that we have live birds for sale (for breeding or eating). Come pick out a Tom or a hen (or both) for your farm or dinner table. All sales are under PMA agreement for live animals, and we can even show you how to process them if necessary.

These heritage turkeys have been bred from Bourbons, Royal Palm, and Gray Slate. They avg about 20 # for the Toms and 10-12 # for the hens. Check bio section for pricing.
